You adjusted your blue shirt, you were a medical officer for this landing party and it had been advised to were long shirts and trousers due to the dangers plants that inhabited the planet. You left your room aboard the Enterprise, making sure that your bed was empty, so you could just collapse on it when you were back.

Making your way to arranged meeting area, adjusted your medical bag over your shoulder and stood ready on the platform, along with Chekov, Nyota, a couple of red shirts, science officer who was your best friend and the captain of the Enterprise himself, James T. Kirk. Standing beside your friend you watched as she finished her call with her wife back home. You told her hello and waved to your godchild. She hung up as Jim entered the room, Bones as usual by his side. Jim admired the way the light shined through your sleek ponytail and how it glinted off your cinnamon skin. "You could just ask her out." Jim turned to face his friend, who had a knowing look, "You practically drool whenever you see her, you know there's a bet going around about when you'll finally kiss her."

"Kiss her, not asking her out?" Jim questioned, Bones rolled his eyes, turning to leave, "Just remember, the female of the species is deadlier than the male." Jim smiled beginning to walk up the platform, "Thanks, Bones." Jim stood and nodded at the team sitting ready to send you all down to the planet. You closed your eyes, as did the others.

You opened your eyes and there was beauty every. It seemed as though the planet had been beautified. The flowers were gleaming in the soft sunlight, the grass was a deep rippling green. What appeared to be hummingbirds but with longer beaks than back on earth were fluttering about, small bees buzzed around. The stream was bubbling along crystal clear. The team stood shocked at the beauty for a few moments, before snapping out of their trances. Everyone moved cautiously, not knowing what dangers lurked about, the seemingly perfect place you had ended up. You all began moving over to do your assignments. Chekov cut his finger and you began to help him, Jim watched trying tamper his jealously. You fixed the cut, making sure that you got a sample of his blood for testing.

There was a noise, and everything slowed down. A mass of hummingbirds began to raise themselves higher into the air. Then their wings spread out and when the sun bounced off them, the feathers looked razer sharp. There was a pause of a few seconds, before they began to dive at the gathered group. One of the red shirts fell, his neck pierced through. Jim shouted into his PADD as he attempted to get to you and Chekov, he picked up other members of the team. He dropped them off in a cave that was hidden by the stream, you and Chekov were cornered. You were pushing Chekov in front of you attempting to protect the younger man. Jim reached out and grabbed out the air, he managed to snag Chekov's hand. He pulled the hand towards and behind him shoving the young man into the cave and into your best friend who promptly fell into one of the others. The blushing Russian helped her to her feet. Jim kept moving forward, attempting to get to you. He reached out again and clasped on your hand, he jerked you into the woods, pressing you into a tree. Shielding you with his body as you curled in making yourself smaller, less of a target. You could feel his breath against the shell of your ear. The noise stopped, and the air stilled.

Jim waited a few moments before pulling away. He didn't move far, he moved his arm from your waist, and the other from your neck moving them to the tree trunk. "Y/N, are you okay?" He asked softly. One of his hands gently brushed at your forehead, his bright blue eyes searching your dark brown eyes. There was magnetic pull between the pair of you, and your both collided with a force that knocked the remaining breath out of you. Your shirt was gripped and you returned the favour. His thumbs swiped along your cheeks, the world disappeared for a few moments. When you both pulled away, you breathed heavily. "Welp, I guess that means that Bones wins the bet." You both turned and came face to face with your best friend and the rest of the team. Your friend had been the one who had spoken. "Of course, he did." Jim sighed.
