I'm back!

It turns out there are a few romance tropes I completely neglected to talk about in this rant book. Consider this a part 2 of the chapter Cliché Romance Phrases/Scenes I Can't Stand.

🔵 The weird obsession with pet/child approval

This is a cliché I've seen in sooooo many books, and I am over it. I've been thinking about it for a while.

I have no idea how I completely forgot to talk about this particular point in my rants before. I did kind of rant about it in the Cliché Romance Phrases/Scenes I Can't Stand chapter under the point where I rant about side character approval. Here's the specific excerpt so you don't have to go back to read it:

[Tyler's mom gushes over Tessa from the moment they meet, Tyler's butler/bff/driver/mother/dog tells Tessa that he's changed since he met her and that he's much better than he usually is (meaning, he's not as broody as usual or he's not as angry as usual) since he met Tessa. OR Tessa's father/mother/bff/dog tells Tessa that they can tell she finally found "the one". Basically, they're telling Tessa to marry Tyler and never leave him or he'll become the bitter, grumpy, petty, mean man he's always been.]

I had dog in there for exaggeration and to express how ridiculous that particular trope was, but I'd completely forgot that a DOG PUSHING THE COUPLE TOGETHER IS AN ACTUAL THING.
