"OH MY GOD WHATS WRONG" Daniel screams

"B-blood" Rae yells from the bathroom

"What do you mean blood? Raelyn open the door"

"No no I can't seriously dad I can't"

"Hey Rae where is the blood exactly?" I ask calmly

I already know what this is

The wonderful thing called a period

"M-my pants"

"Dani go downstairs I got this"

"What why?"

"Daniel trust me" I look him in the eye and I see him get what I mean

He turns away and walks downstairs

"Okay Rae it's just me Kayleigh can I come in"

"Yes please"

I open the door and sure enough it's definitely her period

"What's happening?" She asks

"I think you got your period. Welcome to the world of being a girl"

"Oh no... I hate this"

"I know now I'm going to help you, sit down okay"

"Okay" she sits back down and I leave for a second to get my period kit I made

Once me and Daniel got married I knew I would be there when Rae got her period for the first time ever

So I set up a kit for when she does get it

I go back in the bathroom and sit in front of her

"Okay so I have this bag and it's going to be really helpful"

"What's in it?"

"Thank you so much Kayleigh this really helps" Rae tells me after I help her with everything

"No problem. Now periods can be a lot and they can be hard to manage but you just have to remember that they're only for a week and it's a way your body is keeping you healthy"

"Yeah we learned about that in health... wait aren't things supposed to grow?"

"What do you mean"

"Well I mean like you. One of my dad's favorite parts on you are your boobs and I mean they grew after you got your period right"

"Two things. Um one why do you know what your dad's favorite parts on me are and two yeah they grew after I got my first period"

"Oh I only know because my dad is constantly staring at them and I hear him say it all the time."

"What do you hear him say?"

"Oh you know 'pull your shirt down babygirl I want to see them right now' and 'fuck babe your boobs are almost as big as my dick'"

Note to self: don't let Daniel talk sexually in front of Rae

"Oh okay let's um stop right there" i stop her before she tries to continue

"Sorry but my dad is way too loud when he talks to you like that"

"Remind me to tell him to start being quiet" I say and we laugh together

"Thank you again Kayleigh. I'm sorry for what I said earlier this morning. I was just tired and I don't know I just let myself become mean. You are my real mom now and it was awful of me to say you weren't"

"It's okay I'm glad we had this conversation though"

"Yeah me too can I have one more hug before we leave"

"Of course"

She hugs me tightly and smiles once she pulls away

"You have my baby brother in there" she points to my stomach and I smile, touching my stomach

"Yeah I do"

"Are you excited for him"

"Oh yeah very. Only 6 more months til he's out of here. I'm just warning you he's going to cry a lot so don't be hesitant to sleep over a friends house"

"I don't think I'll care. I always wanted a baby brother and that's just what comes with them. What are you and my dad naming him?"

"I'm not sure yet but I have a few ideas"

"I say you name him ryland"

"Why?"

"Well I'm Raelyn and he would be Ryland so it's like a rhyme"

"You know what I'll add it to the list"
