"mom, dad wake up" i hear Rae say

i open my eyes and groan

"i'm tiiiired"

"Rylands crying"

"oh shit sorry."

i stand up quickly and walk into his room

scooping him up, i gently rock him back and forth

he slowly stops crying and i smile

"you're so cute" i kiss his forehead and he giggles

"omg aren't you just the most adorable little boy on earth. yes you are. you're even cuter than your daddy. aww my little baby" i start talking to Ryland and i hear a knock on the door

i turn around and smile at the sight of daniel

"hi dani me and Ryland are having mommy and baby bonding time"

"i heard. how is he"

"super cute. right when I picked him up he stopped crying. i think he likes me holding him"

"i'm sure he does. can i hold him?"

"mhm" i gently hand him to daniel but he starts to cry

"oh no! dani you made him cry give him back"

i take him back and he stops crying

"wow he loves you more" daniel laughs

"oh he'll love you soon enough. but i mean he was in my stomach for 9 months he's attached to me"

"very true. well since he's awake we should go feed him, don't you think"

i nod and carefully walk down the stairs

i have daniel make a bottle for him while i play around with him

"dad?" Rae says coming down the stairs

"yes rae?"

"can i have Jace come over. we won't bother you, kayleigh, or ryland i just want to hang out with him"

"only if you make sure you're not behind any closed doors"

"why not?"

"i don't want you guys to be kissing"

"dad!"

"what i'm just saying."

"ugh can i go to his house instead"

"why so you guys can kiss"

"dani just let him come over and let the door be closed"

"but kayleigh i dont-"

"-want them to be kissing. i get it but if the doors open and they're talking it's going to be super loud and distracting and who knows maybe he'll start crying. but when it's closed we won't hear it"
