November rolls around, and although nothing has changed or evolved, we're still very much in love. And if we were comfortable before, now we're even more so. It's always been natural with us, but now, we're basically married. As for the whole 'public' thing, we don't care. We post together, make videos together, walk around holding hands- all without concern. The whole confusing them thing works well, they assume we're dating when photos emerge of us holding hands and cuddling, but we still say we're just friends. Defending that I'm just an affectionate person and this is what I do. Just who we are. We double date with Sam and Kat and Jake and Tara. Things a pretty perfect for our circumstances. And, with continued encouragement on Colby's behalf, I've been going to a few auditions. And that's where I'm going today. I drive myself there now, in my beautiful Camaro. I call Colby when I get on my way
"Bro."
I state when he answers, he goes along with it
"Broski, you on your way?"
"I am."
"And you're coming straight here afterwards."
I teasingly pause to debate
"Well, I was going to make a detour to see my side bitch first."
He scoffs, asking
"Okay But has your side bitch got a surprise for you like I have waiting here?"
I giggle, stating
"Okay I'll put him off."
He laughs, telling me
"Great. Kick ass Kitana."
I remind him
"I love you."
"I love you."

After finding parking, I have to walk back the way I came to the casting director's building for a while, walking right up to the desk when I get up onto their level.
"Hello, I'm here for a reading with Mr Jaxon Bates."
The receptionist looks up at me from behind her Apple computer, asking
"Miss Alaska Rain?"
I nod
"That's me."
She stands, gathering a few sheets of paper together on a clipboard for me
"Wonderful. We've been expecting you."
She waves be behind her, signalling for me to follow as she takes me into a very sophisticated waiting room. Modern white leather couches and glass furniture, explaining as she leads me
"Jaxon should be ready for you in about ten minutes, I'll come get you when he is. Please fill these in and hand them back to me on your way. And feel free to help yourself to a Fiji water over there."
I smile at her, she has got to be the nicest receptionist I have come across through all these auditions. I do help myself to one of the waters, feeling my tongue drying out from nerves. I fill in my information on the paperwork, and occupy myself for the rest of the time by going through memorised lines in my head. The time flies by before she comes and gets me again
"Jaxon will see you now, please follow me."
I hand back the paperwork to her and let her lead me again. Down a hall and to the office right at the end. It's crazy huge. One wall made entirely of glass looking out over LA. The furnishing the same as the waiting room, but one whole side of the room set up with cameras and professional lighting with a backdrop. Jaxon Bates stands from behind his desk when I enter
"Alaska Rain, a pleasure to meet you sweetheart."
I shake his outstretched hand
"You too Mr Bates, thank you so much for this opportunity."
He waves it off, walking around his desk to talk more personably to me
"You may call me Jaxon, dear. Now, I believe you have come in and done a reading for us before haven't you?"
I nod
"Yes, a couple weeks ago."
He hums
"That's right. I'm terribly sorry you didn't get that part, but I couldn't seem to forget about you. I could just see from that reading you may be perfect for this character I have you reading for today. And because your Halloween costume I've seen all over the Internet looks exactly like my vision for the character. I did try to reach out to your manager though and couldn't get through to one."
I flush, explaining
"That may be because I don't actually have one."
He nods
"Oh I see, you're self represented."
I agree with a nod, and he claps
"That's wonderful, you're doing a very good job for yourself. I should tell you though that if you get this part you should look into finding yourself a manager and publicist. I could suggest a few."
I giggle
"Jaxon, best not get my hopes up before the reading."
He chuckles
"Of course, right this way my dear."
He leads me over to the studio section of his office, sitting me on a stool in front of the back drop. Another kid, probably around college age who I didn't realise was in here, stands and moves behind the camera. Jaxon tells me
"You know how this goes. Name, age, where you're based and who you're auditioning for today."
I nod, and listen for the camera to beep before I begin.
"Hello, I'm Alaska Rain, twenty one and based in Los Angeles- originally from Australia. I'm hear today reading for the part of Kitana."

I'm so excited after the reading I tear it out the office building, feeling like I'm sprinting on air back to my car. That went so well. SO well. Jaxon, even though he isn't meant to, told me I pretty much have the role. He'll call me within the next couple of weeks to verify it. I can't believe it- I'm playing a main role in a live action remake of a cult classic video game franchise. My favourite video game franchise. I drive through Chick Fil' A on my way back to Colby's, celebratory chicken is a must. When I get there, I let myself up and into his apartment. Calling through the house
"Colby! I've got such good news baby!"
He jumps up from the couch when he sees me, running into my arms
"Good news?!"
"The part is pretty much mine."
The hoots, lifting me in his arms.
"My baby's a big time actress!"
I laugh, wiggling out of his arms
"Don't get too excited, I still have to get the offical call."
He claps, stating
"I want you to tell me all about it- but I want you to tell me on our way. Bring the chicken."
I tilt my head at him, grabbing the chicken back off the counter
"On our way where?"
"Your surprise."
Oh yeah, the surprise I had forgotten all about amidst my excitement.
