Chapter 8: The White Fang

Sherbet's POV

We were sitting at a table with the monkey faunus, known as Sun, from the other night. After taking a deep breath, Blake says. "So, you both want to know more about me" To which Sun replies with. "Finally, she speaks! Nearly two days and you've only been talking to your little friend here" I show him my notepad. 'I'm Sherbet' "And why do you talk like that?" I look at Blake to answer for me. "He's mute, which means he can't speak. Anyways, Sun, are you familiar with the White Fang?" To which he responds with, "Of course! I don't think there's a faunus on the planet who hasn't heard of them. Stupid creeps that use force to get whatever they want. Bunch of freaks if you ask me" Blake and I get an annoyed expression as she said. "I was....once a member of the White Fang" 'So was I' He starts choking on his drink after he heard and saw what we said. After, he said. "Wait a minute, you two were members of the White Fang?" "That's right. I was a member for most of my life actually. You could almost say I was born into it. Back then, things were different. In the ashes of war, the White Fang was meant to be a symbol of peace and unity between humans and the faunus. Of course, despite being promised equality, the faunus were subjected to discrimination and hate. Humanity still thought of us as lesser beings. And so, the White Fang rose up as a voice of our people. And I was there, I was at the front of every rally. I took part in every boycott. And I actually thought we were making a difference...but I was just a youthful optimist. Then, five years ago, our leader stepped down, and a new one took his place. A new leader, with a new way of thinking. Suddenly our peaceful protests were being replaced with organized attacks. We were setting fire to shops that refused to serve us. Hijacking cargo from companies that used faunus labor. And the worst part? It was working. We were being treated like equals. But not out of respect....out of fear. So, I left. I decided I no longer wanted to use my skills to aid in their violence. And instead, I would dedicate my life to becoming a Huntress. So here I am. A criminal hiding in plain view. All with the help of a little, black bow." She wiggled her cat ears from under the bow. I was so tempted to pet her, but I resisted so I wouldn't embarrass myself. I felt a heat rising up on my cheeks as I thought about it. Sun then speaks as I feel the heat fade away. "So...Sherbet's the only one you told about this?" "Yes" "And you, what's your story?" I give him the page of my notepad I showed team RWBY. "Oh" 'Yeah, I worked with a known criminal. My sister refused to leave with me' "I'm sorry about that" 'It's fine' But really....it isn't. It hurts to not have Neo here for me. I just wish she came with me. I feel so....so alone without her. I feel some tears start to leak from my eyes as I thought this. Blake brings me into a hug. "You can talk to me about it anytime, Sherbet, remember that." I nod as I return the hug.

Later, we were walking on a sidewalk in Vale when Sun spoke. "So, what's the plan now?" To which Blake says in response. "I still don't believe the White Fang is behind these robberies. They've never needed that much dust before" 'She's right, even I don't know why Torchwick is leading them to doing this' "Wait, he's the one leading the dust robberies?" Blake asks. 'Yeah, always has. Don't know why they trust his group, since they're not faunus' "That's what confuses me as well. Why would a faunus group work with humans?" Sun then speaks. "Well, the way to figure out if the White Fang is actually still with him is by going to the place where they would most likely do what they need to do" "Well, we have no idea where that would be" "Well, while I was on the ship, I heard a couple some of guys talking about offloading a huge shipment of dust coming is from Atlas" "How huge?" "Huge. Big Schnee Company freighter" "You're sure?" Well, that gives us a lead. Torchwick will most likely be there.

Blake and I were looking over a ledge at the drop yard, where the dust shipment came in. "Did I miss anything?" Sun said as he sat by us, to which Blake responded. "Not really, They've offloaded all the crates from the boat. Now they're just sitting there" "Cool. I stole you guys some food" We look at him as I help up my notepad and Blake spoke 'Why?' "Do you always break the law without a second thought?" "Hey, weren't you both in a cult or something?" I look at him in annoyance as Blake just looks angry. "Ok, too soon" We then hear turbine engines as we see an airship coming in. We see it land and White Fang members start coming out. "Oh no" Blake says. Sun then asks. "Is that them?" "Yes. It's them." "You really didn't think they were behind it, did you?" "No. I think deep down I knew. I just didn't want to be right" We then hear an all to familiar voice....to me at least. "Hey! What's the hold up?!" He orders them around as I show Blake and Sun my notepad. 'That's him' Blake then says. "You were right, they are still working together, but why?" Blake then jumps down as I jump after her. After we land, we hide behind some crates as Torchwick continues ordering the faunus around. Then, Blake was there with a blade to his throat. "Nobody move!" They all aimed their weapons at her. She then removed her bow to reveal her cat ears, showing them that she is a faunus. "Brothers of the White Fang. Why are you aiding this scum?" Torchwick then says. "Didn't you get the memo?" "What are you talking about?" "The White Fang and I are going in on a joint business venture together." "Tell me what it is, or I'll put an end to your little operation" We then see two more airships come in. "I wouldn't exactly call it a little operation" I quickly grab Blake and pull her back right before Torchwick shot where Blake was. I then pull out my umbrella. "Hello Sherbet, nice to see you again" I just give him an angered look as I get ready to attack. He shoots at us as I open up my umbrella to block. Blake starts running to try and attack, but he keeps shooting at her, forcing her on the defensive. I shoot at him with an ice dust round, but he dodges. Sun then drops a banana peel on his head and jumps on him. 'Nice entrance' "Thanks" We then see White Fang members surround us. I switch my umbrella to it's blade form. The White Fang members attack us. "Leave them to me" Sun says as he fights them with his fists, but then starts using a staff he had. Torchwick shoots at him, which he blocks. Blake then goes after Torchwick, saying. "He's mine!" She then begins clashing swords with him, but fails to land any good hits on him. I then come in to help. I know most of his moves, and he knows mine, so we're both at a disadvantage. After clashing with him, I jump back to let Sun go at him with his weapon, which is now two gunchucks. Blake then hits him while he's distracted with sun, knocking him back. Torchwick then shoots a cable above us, making the crate fall. We quickly tumble out of the way. He was now aiming at Sun, but then we hear a voice. "Hey!" We look over to see Ruby with Crescent Rose. "Oh, hello Red. Isn't it past your bedtime?" He aims at Ruby, but I hit his cane with my umbrella so when he shot, it didn't hit her. I then see Penny jump down with ten swords floating behind her. She takes out the White Fang members with ease. She then fires a....laser?! Oh god, I did not expect that. Looks like Penny really is combat ready.

Later, the police was here, investigating the scene. We were all sitting down. We then look to see Weiss and Yang walking towards us. Ruby tries to explain something to Weiss, but she ignores her. She then stops in front of Blake and I. Blake then speaks. "Weiss, I want you to know that I'm no longer associated with the White Fang. Back when I was with-" "Stop. Do you have any idea how long we've been searching for you both? Twelve hours. That means I've had twelve hours to think about this. And in that twelve hours I've decided....I don't care" "You don't care?" "You said you're not one of them anymore, right?" "No, I-I haven't been since I was younger-" "Upupupupup! I don't want to hear it. And you" She looks at me. "I'm...sorry for what I said back at the room. I admit, I overreacted. I hope you can accept my apology." I smile and nod. "Anyways...All I want to know, is that the next time something this big comes up...you'll come to your teammates, and not some....someone else." "Of course" Ruby then yells out. "Yeah! Team RWBY and Sherbet is back together!" Weiss then tells Sun that she still has her suspicions about him. Ruby then asks. "Hey, wait a minute. Where's Penny?" She did just disappear....
