Chapter 13: Under the Broken City

Ruby was looking at a few grimm through the scope of Crescent Rose as I was just looking out at the moonlight, a bit bored. Blake, Weiss, Yang, and Dr. Oobleck were sleeping behind us. I want to make some small talk with Ruby...but I can't, seeing how she doesn't understand sign language, so we just sit there in silence. 

Later, it was Yang's turn to lookout, so Ruby and I went to bed...but I was later woken up by Ruby loudly whispering. I then saw Zwei run off. Ruby was about to go after him, but I motioned for her to stop, then gestured to myself, signaling that I would take care of him, to which she nodded. I then went after Zwei. 

When I went out there, I saw that Zwei had to use the bathroom, to which I facepalm. When he was done, he walked over to me and barked, to which I then hear. "What was that?" I then pick Zwei up and hide, not wanting to go into any trouble right now. I look around the corner to see to members of the White Fang talking. So they do have a hideout here. They then begin walking, to which I follow...this would be something Ruby would do. I then see them go in a door. I need to tell the others. I begin walking back...but the road collapses under me and I drop my umbrella, I fall however.

When I hit the ground, I'm a bit too dazed to get up. All I remember was someone walking up to me, then getting kicked in the face.

Blake's POV

I wake up to hear Yang say. "Hey, where's Sherbet?" That brought me into a bit of a panic. I look at Sherbet's spot to see it empty. I then see Zwei come run in, barking. I back away from Zwei as he ran in. Ruby then got up. "He went to go...retrieve...Zwei...oh..." They must've seen the panic in my expression, based on the faces they gave me, but that didn't stop Dr. Oobleck from saying. "Grab your weapons girls, Sherbet may be in trouble" I have no hesitation in grabbing Gamble Shroud. 

Sherbet's POV

I wake up to notice that I'm being dragged by two White Fang members. I look around to see them doing all kinds of work. The people dragging me then stop and one says. "Hey boss! Found something you might wanna see!" I then hear Torchwick. "Is it good or bad, Perry, because let me tell you, I have had a day" "Uh..it's a colorful guy..." I kinda can't turn around with how they have me. I then hear Torchwick say. "That is a bit of both..."

Blake's POV

We arrive at a hole in the road, to which we see Sherbet's umbrella. I pick it up and look at the hole. We look over to see Oobleck has made a sudden realization. "Of course!" "What is it?" I ask him. "Mountain Glenn! Yes! An expansion of Vale that was inevitably destroyed by creatures of Grimm! Previously home to thousands of people! Working people, commuting to the city, the main city. Developed a subway system to the inner city. Grimm attacks increase! Population in danger, now desperately searching for shelter! City evacuates into metro tunnels and what do they find?! The South-East quadrant of Vale is known for wild forests and deep caves!" Yang then asks. "Doc, what are you saying?" "My dear, we're not just looking for an underground crime network! We're looking for an underground crime network!" "They've been working in caves?" I ask, still worried about Sherbet. "no, no. Mountain Glenn was Vale's first serious attempt at expansion. It worked for a short period of time thanks to an aggressive perimeter defense and unique transportation. The city developed an elaborate subway system to carry citizens from the new territory into the main kingdom. Sadly, without the natural barriers Vale had to protect it's borders, Mountain Glenn was doomed from the start. As the end drew near, the citizens of the territory made one last attempt at survival. They took up shelter beneath the city, in massive caves that they had cleared out for the subway. And they had cut themselves off from the surface" "An underground village?" Yang asked. "In a manner a speaking, yes. A safe haven..until...an explosion opened the mouth of another cavern...filled with subterranean Grimm. After that...the kingdom officially sealed off the tunnels, creating the worlds largest tomb. If Sherbet is down there......" He pulls out his weapon. "We must find him" 

Sherbet's POV

I was being dragged towards the front of the train that was here, much to my confusion. "Y'know Sherbet, Neo really does miss you, though she is a bit disappointed that you ran away. There's another person that wants to see you as well, but I won't tell you who they are...not yet." I decide I've had enough and punch they legs of the people that we're holding me, using this to make a run for it. I then look back to see Torchwick shooting the hook of his cane at me. I use my semblance to make it look like I'm still there, then hide. The illusion shatters on impact. "What the- find him!" I hear him say as they run past my hiding spot.

I then hear an explosion, and look to see the others, and quickly run over to them. "Sherbet!" Blake says as she hugs me, then gives me my umbrella. I then use sign language to tell them something, which Blake translates. "They have a bunch of weapons and robots loaded on the train" We then hear someone say they are leaving now.  They train then begins moving. A few seconds we agree to one thing. "We're stopping that train.." Ruby says.

We get on the train as Oobleck knocks out a guy that was on a walkie talkie. Weiss then draws our attention to something, and we look at what was inside a hatch. "What's that?" She asks, to which he answers. "That, my dear...appears to be a bomb" We all take a step back away from it. Ruby then draws our attention to a bunch of White Fang members on top of the train. We then see that the bomb is now active as we go to another train car as Blake detaches the caboose. "It decoupled itself!" She yells. Ruby then sees another bomb. Then Oobleck goes to the next car and shouts. "They all have bombs!" The bomb goes active, we move to the next car, it detaches, it blows up. We then start fighting the members of the White Fang. They may have the numbers, but we have the skill. After we defeat them, Oobleck tells us that they are leading Grimm to the city by blowing up cars, leaving holes for Grimm to get through. "We have to hurry! You four! Go below and try and stop those bombs!" He said to Blake, Weiss, and Yang. We then go down to find a way to stop the bombs. 

After we jump down, Yang says. "I guess this is what we trained for" Weiss then gives Blake something as she puts it in Gamble Shroud. As we start going forward, we see someone jump down...Neo. Yang tries to tell us to go on, but I put my hand out and look at them. They seem to get the message and go on ahead as I look at her. She looks back at me with a disappointed look. This battle is not gonna end until one of us is knocked out. I pull out my umbrella as she pulls out her parasol, or Hush as she calls it. I wouldn't say this to your face...mostly because I can't, but one of the reasons I've worked so hard is to save you. If I have to defeat you right here to do so, so be it.
