"I've been good moma."
"I guess Beverley been treating you right at her house. You've been eating good. I like the new weight on you"
"Thank you moma."
"Ive been thinking. I live in that big empty house. It has 5 bedrooms and i only use one. I wanna give the house to Laila and her kids. She lives in that 3 bedroom apartment"
"She aint gon take it moma."
"I know. Thats why I need you to convince her. Its the family house. Im not gonna sell it. I wont."
"What am i supposed to do? Laila not gon listen to me. Hell, she didn't listen to me when I told her, her baby daddy was cheating on her. Or any other times I was right.If she wont take it , I will. Me and Nola can raise big headed babies in that house."
"Why they gotta be big headed?" she said choking on her coffee.
"Because me and Nola both have big head mom. You know that."
"True. Bailey had a big ass head too. Noliana looks just like her. Except shes got her daddy's eyes and nose.I dont know where you got yo big head from."
"Oh you know exactly where i got it from"
"yep."
"So you know how i told you i wanted to leave?"
"Yeah baby"
"I wanna find Kaela."
"Maybe she doesnt want to be found Kimmy."
"I dont care what she wants. I want my sister back in my life. You have all the resources to find black ops and shit but you wont find your own daughter. make that make sense"
"I learned to respect her privacy. You dont think I want her back home. Where I know for sure she is safe? She's my firstborn. The first two years she was gone. I looked nonstop. I did find her. She told me she just wanted to be alone. To let her be her. She told me to let her go," My moms voice cracked saying those last words.
"How im supposed to let her go. I couldn't. I wont. When you find her. Tell her im sorry and that I love her with all my heart. Tell Laila the same thing. I think imma go away for a while too.
She placed some money on the table and got up.
"Moma, where you going?"
"Imma get right for yall. I love you bean."
"Moma."
She left. God, Im so tired of everybody leaving me. I just want my whole family back.
I paid the lady and made my way home.
"How was your dat baby?" I was greeted by Nola at the door.
"Good"
"I made you dinner."
"I just ate with my moma."
"Yo momaa?"
"Yes. She was at the cemetery. We talked and went out to eat."
"Thats wassup baby. Happy yall getting closer."
"yeah. Noliana we need to talk."
"Noliana?You dont call me that unless its something serious."
"Ive been thinking."
"Okay?"
"please don't be mad at me," I said hugging her
"What is it?"
"Im going to go out of town for a lil while."
"No. No.," she said pushing herself out of my hold
"Baby"
"You know what the hell happened last time you fucking left."
"Im going to go look for Kaela."
"and im going with you."
"no you not."
"I dont know how long its gonna take. I need you focused on school."
"So where are you going exactly?"
"Moma found her a couple years ago in LA. Imma start out there."
"LA!!!!Baby ive always wanted to go to LA."
"Nola"
"Why cant you just stay with me? You always have to fucking leave me. I am fucking depressed without. Cant you just wait until im done with school? Then we can go together."
"I cant. I gotta go. Being here in this city is depressing. My daddy died here and everywhere i go i think of him."
"So that means leave me."
"Im still grieving."
"YOURE NOT THE ONLY ONE. I lost both my parents. Every fucking corner I turn I see one of their faces or somebody asking me about them. Telling me this and that. I lost my whole family and im still standing still so dont give me none of that I lost my daddy bullshit.If you want to leave, leave. Just know I probably wont be here when you get back ," Nola said marching off to her room slamming the door.
Why couldn't I just go? I dont have to be in her present 24/7. We are a couple I get it but damn. She's so damn clingy.
