Chapter Fourteen | Code Cracker

So, the next day, Dustin, Steve and I all went on a spy hunt around the mall to spot anything that's remotely suspicious.

Dustin and I have been here since ten o'lock and so far we have nothing. We thought we had something but turns out he was just a gym teacher at the mall. We really thought we had him, he wore all black and had a duffle bag.

I got bored with trying to find evil Russians and decided to walk back to the ice cream shop. Robin spots me and nods at me.

"Found anything?" Robin questions.

I shake my head. "Man, I get bored easily, got anything for me to do?" I climbed over the benchtop quickly.

"Don't you have any other friends?" Robin asked. "What about those other kids that came with you a few days ago?"

"Oh, them?" I frowned. "I don't know. Too much drama between them." Robin nodded, understanding.

There was then a constant ding at the bell. Robin looked over. Robin lets out a sigh. Erica smiled. Erica, as in, Lucas's sister.

"I'd like to try the peanut butter chocolate swirl, please." Erica smiled kindly. "Oh, hi, Aspen." I waved at her briefly.

Her posey behind her. "No." Robin declined. "No. No more samples today."

"Why not?" Erica demanded.

"Because you're abusing our company policy," Robin smirked.

"Where's the sailor man?" Erica questioned.

"Sorry, he can't help you." Robin shrugged. "He's busy,"

"Busy with what?" Robin turned back around and placed some headphones on. I looked down at the tape in her hand. Erica huffed before storming off.

So, I decided to answer, instead. "Spycraft." The girls left while rolling their eyes. I got myself an ice cream and Robin claimed that it was free for me. So I just got free ice cream.

Robin and I sat in the back, Robin kept reading the same words over and over again until an idea would pop up into her head.

"The silver cat feeds when blue meets yellow in the west a trip to China sounds nice if you read lightly," Robin reads off the paper. "Tread lightly?" She flipped through the translation book.

There were a knocking and Robin sighed. She opened the window and slide through to the back.

She walked over to the door and there was a delivery man with a package. "Delivery for you." The man speaks.

"Thank you," Robin takes the package from the man, she puts it's down and then signs off some sheets. She looked over the logo that the man was wearing; LYNX.

"Have a nice day," the man says before leaving.

"Yeah, you too," Robin called over before shutting the door. She then opened the door. She looked over at me. "Coming?"

I frowned before climbing over the desktop and chased after her. Robin paused and stared at the logo.

"Robin-" I begin to whisper but she cuts me off and turned to me.

"Silver cat," Robin nodded towards the mans shirt; there was indeed a silver cat on in, which, was part of the code. "Silver cat," Robin then runs out the door and I quickly followed her.

We rushed past the boys who turned to us with a frown. Dustin grabbed my arm quickly. "Redhead, what the hell are you guys doing?"

"Robin?" Steve called and followed her. I got out of Dustin's grip and followed Steve, Robin was now on one of the tables, smiling like a manic.

"Robin, what are you doing?" Steve asked and Robin stares down at us.

"I cracked it."

"Crack what?" Steve frowned.

She jumped down, standing in front of us. "I cracked the code."

"They're whistling guy, ten o-lock."

It was pouring down with rain. With Robin, Steve, and Dustin, we all sat on top of a roof building where the Russians were working.

We'd managed to find the place by following a guard, it was difficult, but we got here. I glanced down and saw the guy whistling; he was carrying around a bunch of boxes.

"What do you think's in there?" Steve questioned allowed.

"Guns, bombs?" Dustin suggested, using the binoculars to see better.

"Chemical weapons?" Robin adds.

"Whatever it is, they're armed to the teeth," I commented, noticing the Russian guards all surrounding the gate into the place.

"Great," Steve speaks over the thunder. "That's great."

Someone opens up the gat by using a key card. The man with the boxes walks towards the open door. "Hey, what's in there?" Robin questions.

"It's just more boxes," Dustin observes.

"Let me check it out," Steve grabs ahold of the binoculars but Dustin wouldn't let go.

"Steve, I'm still looking," Dustin argued.

"Lemme see it," Steve kept trying to pull the binoculars away from Dustin's grip.

"Hang on!" Then, the binoculars slip out of their hands and down towards the ground. Our eyes widen. "Duck!"

Robin gasps and we all ducked behind the wall. Oh, my God, we are dead, we are dead; I repeat, we're going to be dead.

I then heard someone yell out in Russian, no one but Robin could understand what they were saying.

We all then made a gap for it, sprinting from our current spots, trying to get away from the situation, and running straight to home. Or, to Steven's car, that is.

Now, we enter the hallways to get to a short cut to the Ahoy Icecream shop. "Well, I think we found your Russian's," Robin speaks.

Yes, like that was a good thing.
