Chapter Nineteen | Familiar Faces

"I repeat this is a code red, do you copy?" Dustin questions into the walkie talkie. We were in the backstage of the movie theatre, somewhere we'd be alone and in private.

"Dustin?" I heard a Mile speak over to the walkie talkie, expect it wasn't clear.

"Mike?" I grabbed the walkie talkie off him.

"Aspen?" I heard Mike say my name. "Dustin and Aspen!"

"Mike!" We both holler in excitement.

"Oh, my God, you have to listen. I know we've been MIA and I'm sorry, it's not because I'm mad." Dustin paused. "I mean, I actually was mad, but it's also because we were trapped underground in a secret Russian basement."

"Dustin, guys, you're going too fast, I can't understand you," Dustin ignored Mike.

"I know that sounds insane but the Russians have infiltrated Hawkins! The goddamn Russians!" Dustin then continues to explain to Mike what was happening. With the gate, the Russians, how they were doing it.

"And now they're after us, and we don't have a way out of here, so we need you to come and get us," I concluded. "Can Nancy drive?"

"Mike?" Dustin suddenly said when Mike wasn't responding.

"Dustin, you there?" I heard him say, but he was crackling.

"Mike? Mike, do you copy?" Dustin pleaded. I then checked the power on the walkie talkie. Crap, it's basically dead.

"Shit!" I cursed. "Not now. Please, not now. Mike! Mike!"

We then quickly rushed back down into the theatre and sat next to Erica. Dustin turned to her. "Do you have any batteries?"

"Specifically double-A?" I requested.

"Why would I have batteries?" Erica asked.

"I always carry batteries." Dustin defended.

"Then what's the problem?"

"I need eight." Dustin looked down at my walkie talkie.

"Eight?" Erica hissed.

"Shit." I murmured. "I guess we have to go with plan B."

"Plan B?" Erica frowned. "What's plan B?"

I then looked over to where dumb and dumber were sitting. Aw, man. They weren't sitting there anymore.

"Guys, we have a bit of an issue."

-

"How much do you want to bet they're in the bathroom?" I asked as we exit the theatre.

Dustin rolled his eyes. "They're not going to be in the bathroom." The mall was still kind of busy.

"Guys, shut up." Erica snapped. "We can check scoops first. Then if not, we'll check all the others stores and then the bathrooms. Sound clear?"

"Ay, ay, captain." I murmur sarcastically and head towards scoop. They weren't there. There were different employers working there.

We check around all the store, they weren't here. "Okay, now we can check the bathrooms," Dustin grumbled and I smiled.

We checked the downstairs toilets first, there was no one here. We checked both, boys and girls.

We then went upstairs. They weren't in that one then we remembered they hey; the theatres have toilets and that's probably where they were/

We entered the girl's bathroom and there were Steve and Robin, giggling their asses off in a toilet. They had sat on the ground.

"Okay," I stated angrily. "What the hell?"

They both stared at us before they started laughing again.

The movie had finished because we can hear chatting and exiting the theatre room. We opened the door quietly, all five of our heads popping out.

"And... blend." Dustin speaks and we all filed into the crowd, walking beside each other and acting normal for once.

"Well, shit, that worked," Erica speaks, looking up at us.

"Course it worked." Dustin rolled his eyes. "We just have to get on the bus with the rest of these plebes, and home sweet home, here we come."

"Uh, Dustin?" Steve asked.

"What?" Dustin replied.

"Yeah, we might not wanna go to your house." Steve continued.

"Why?" I asked.
