It took longer than I expected for them to return to Asgard. Of course, Sif kept me company most of the time since she was one of the few not charged with treason. She watched over me, exactly as she had promised to Loki. Many days had gone by and I grew increasingly worried about them. Them? No... Deep in my heart... I knew I was more worried about Loki. He was my best friend and it would kill me for something to happen to him.

One day, while I was sitting in Frigga's gardens, that was when I got the heartbreaking news.

Loki was dead.

I couldn't count the hours of grief where I just sat beneath the Queen's statue, just praying for them. It was truly soul-wrecking to have lost both people I cared about so much in so little time. "Frigga, my Queen Frigga, I'm sorry. I couldn't be there for Loki as you asked me to. Thor... He hurt me. Loki was the only one I had left. He was like you in so many ways. I-" My words were broken with a sob. "Why did I only realize I loved him when he was gone? Did it have to take so much pain to make me realize that I needed him? You always told me things happen for a reason... well... I hope you and Loki are at least happy in Valhalla."

"(Name)," I turned my head, having to turn more than I expected due to having the missing eye. A blond servant stood before me and I waited expectantly. "I am happy," He continued, making me confused as he came and sat beside me. "But I am not in Valhalla yet." At that, green magic surrounded him and Loki was sitting beside me with his hands in mine. My eye was wide as I stared at him. "(Name), darling?"

I threw my arms around his neck, holding him tightly. "You idiot. You idiot. You're such an idiot." He groaned at my attack and I pulled away slightly as he told me to be careful. "Loki... What happened?"

"You wouldn't like it," Loki admitted guiltily as he turned away.

I caressed his cheek softly. "I'd prefer anything over you being dead, idiot. What did you do?"

He sighed, removing his shirt with a casual wave. I gasped and my fingers trailed carefully over the scar. Something clearly went straight through his chest and out his back. He watched me carefully before explaining, "I became King. Fooling Thor into thinking I died was the tricky part. As you can see, it's left quite the mark."

I groaned in worry. "You keep trying to kill yourself. What am I ever going to do with you?!"

"Well," Loki said rather cheekily, "You could kiss it better."

"You're a major idiot," I responded before I pulled him closer and our lips connected.

We stayed like that for a long time, just calmly relaxing in each other's arms after he put his shirt back on, of course. "I'll give you everything you need now. You don't have to worry about a thing. There was also something else I had promised to you." He pulled back, looking at me as he caressed my bandages.

My eyebrows furrowed in frustration. "Loki... you got stabbed and you're worried about my eye?" I sighed, rubbing my forehead. "I know you love me, but you need to learn to prioritize."

"I know you also love me, but it's only a scar, darling. It will be sore for a while but I assure you, I am fine." He seemed to catch on to my disbelieving gaze as he assured. "Love, I've healed it as best as I could. Please, allow me to make you better as well."

How could I deny that face? He was so insistent. I sighed again before slowly removing the bandages from my eye. His eyebrows seemed to furrow further as he took my chin and got a better look at it. "Um... Loki... is it okay?"

Loki stumbled to find the right words, "I- Well- I mean, listen," He rubbed his thumb over my bottom lip. "It's deeper than I anticipated. It will hurt... but I'm certain that I can... reserve your vision."
