Coming into work this morning I was nervous as hell. Not only was it the first day back from our little holiday vacation but I was leading my first meeting and I was running a bit late.
Just when I thought I would have News Years off, here I am on this bright Thursday morning coming into work for a presentation on the eve of the new year.
"Hey Evie, they're waiting on you." Adrianne said the moment I stepped into the office
"Shit." that was the last thing I wanted to hear "Don't sweat it, people are still piling into the boardroom. Go knock 'em out girl." she encouraged
"Thanks!" I quickly rushed to my office to set my things down
I looked over my outfit in the mirror and walked out once I satisfied with the way I looked.

Walking into the boardroom all eyes were on me but only one pair stood out the most.
"Good morning everyone!" I smiled nervously
My greeting was returned and Mr. Martin let me know that I was free to start whenever I was ready.
Him saying that made me feel like I was being put on the spot. I went over my presentation dozens of times but my only audience was Tez. Now that I was in front of my colleagues, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get through it.
"Ms. Summers." I looked across the table at Ashton
"Yes?"
"Relax and begin your presentation." he simply said
I nodded and did just that. Somehow Ashton's little push was exactly what I needed to get through my presentation.
"Yes, Evie! You did good, friend!" August said putting his arm around my shoulder
"You fucking it up around here, girl." Sean said giving me a small pinch
"You guys really think I did good?" I questioned
"Hell yeah girl, they might really go with your idea." Sean said
"Thanks." I smiled
"So you coming out with us tonight?" Sean asked
"What's tonight?" I asked confusingly
They looked at me like I was dumb "It's New Year's Eve, we always go to the bar and turn up." August said
"Who's we?" I asked trying to figure out who all going
"Niggas from the office" Sean said
"Ashton?" I asked
"Yeah, aren't y'all cool now?" August asked
"Yeah, you're right... um, I have company at my house but I'll definitely let you know later on if I can make it." I smiled
