Susie plays happily with books meant for babies while Margaret enjoys the Pony Party book. The Pet Watcher decides they will let Margaret take the Pony Party book home with her since she is enjoying it so much.
Homsel finds a book about another planet to borrow. Pombal chooses a book about interdimensional travel, and Gibray selects a book about pet humans.
Then the children decide to enter the portals in the Library. Pombal and Homsel enter a portal to a simulation of another planet. They go exploring and find another primitive intelligent species which is also kept as pets on Nividar. These creatures can fly and also possess primitive technology like humans do. They slightly resemble birds. There are pet stores and activity sections for these pets too in public places on Nividar.
Gibray enters a portal to a soft world full of fascinating toys. There is a barrel of toys which she jumps into and enters a large swimming pool with many small islands. Gibray climbs into a raft and travels to one of the islands.
Gibray plays a fun game with a friendly visitor from another planet on the island. They gather hundreds of objects from all of the different islands and make them all into new objects.
Oypalla selects a book about Nividian wildlife, while her husband chooses a book about caring for pet humans who have brain damage. It contains some fun activities to do with these pet humans. Then Nombley and Oypalla play a complicated Nividian game together until it is time to gather thier children and the pets for lunch.
