In Another Lifetime

The boy I never met but I wish I got to know him

He is written in the art gallery as a masterpiece and his fingerprints are on display at the museum, his skin is youthful but his bones are ancient.

He was...is magnificent.

Even his grave is a glorious, a garden of light and shadow.

Encryptions coat his tombstone, omniscient even in death.

I only dream to know his secrets, his stories.

For he lived a million lives, each one more valuable than the last, mine pales in comparison.

I wish to get to know him but dead boys don't seem to talk very much.

Now he is forever a mystery, encased in glass and amber;nothing more, that makes him sick.

He is not meant to be preserved; he is meant to be savoured and than torn away.

I will warn you only once:dead boys haunt those who tether them to a past that has been forgotten.

I wish to get to know the dead boy who is not very dead, maybe in another lifetime.

He lived, he lost, he died, he didn't.
