Chapter 7 "Where's Zoë"

~~~~I got an idea for this story, that's why it's being posted and not Finding Love in S.W.A.T. as I have on the schedule. I'll update Finding Love In S.W.A.T. in this story's place.~~~~

Speeding down the freeway, Shaylynn pushes a button on her steering wheel.
"Yeah," she hears Luca say.
"Dominic, we're being followed!" Shaylynn tells him.
Luca can hear her engine roaring, "Where are you?" he asks.
"On the five, heading North," Shaylynn tells him, "Oh shit!" she says.
"What is it?" Luca asks with a panicked tone in his voice.
"There's two following us now!" she says, "I'm going to head to my warehouse on Stump and Divide."
The line goes dead.
"What's going on?" Deacon asks Luca.
"Shaylynn and Zoë are being followed!" Luca tells him as he does a U-turn heading toward Shaylynn's warehouse.

In the car, Shaylynn is weaving in and out of traffic, "Zoë, do you have earbuds with you?" Shaylynn asks.
"Yes," Zoë tells her.
"I need you to get them out and listen to your music as loud as you can handle it, can you do that?" Shaylynn asks her.
Zoë shakes her head 'yes' then starts getting her earbuds out.
Once Zoë has them out, she plugs them into her phone and puts them into her ears, turning on her music.

Getting off the freeway, Shaylynn speeds to her warehouse but notices the other two cars are following her.
She speeds down the street to give herself hopefully a minute or two lead ahead of them.
Pushing a button, the door to a large warehouse starts opening.
Shaylynn speeds in braking hard giving Zoë a jolt.
Pushing the button to close the door, she quickly gets out of the car. Shaylynn runs around to the passenger side and opens the door.
She uses hand gestures to tell Zoë to get out of the car and to follow her.
Rushing Zoë over to a huge metal door, Shaylynn opens it and takes Zoë inside where again she uses hand gestures to tell Zoë to sit down and be quiet.
Running out of the room, Shaylynn quickly shuts the door locking it behind her when a car comes crashing through the door and opens fire.
Shaylynn returns fire when she sees the second car stop outside.
Not long after, a police cruiser arrives.
Shaylynn watches as the Officer gets out, draws his gun, fires a few shots, then is shot down in the street pissing her off seeing what just happened in front of her.

Over the next two minutes, Shaylynn's in an intense firefight, taking two guys down, when she hears something coming toward the back door.
Grabbing another gun, she gets ready to start firing at whatever they send in when the back door bursts into pieces and Black Betty comes storming in.

The car on the outside takes off as two of the four guys jump in the other car and quickly back out of the warehouse, speeding off leaving the two wounded guys behind.
Everyone jumps out of Black Betty.
Luca and Deacon run over to Shaylynn as the others run outside.
"Where's Zoë?" Deacon asks Shaylynn.
"She's in my safe room," she tells him, "The metal door."
Deacon quickly walks over with Shaylynn and Luca behind him. That's when he sees a scanner panel by the door.
Shaylynn puts her hand on it, takes it off as a keypad shows up on the screen. She enters a code and the door unlocks.
Deacon opens the door and rushes into Zoë.
Luca grabs Shaylynn, "Are you okay?" he asks her as he puts his arms around her.
"I'm fine," Shaylynn tells him, "But the Officer outside," she says turning her head to look out at everyone else who's surrounding the Officer, Luca looks outside as Street lays a sheet over him while more patrol cars and an ambulance show up, "He was trying to help me but was way outgunned!" she says looking at Luca, "Why are the criminals always outgunning the Police?!" she asks stepping back looking at Luca with a worried look on her face.
"I don't know," Luca says bringing her close and wrapping his arms around her again, "What do you think they wanted?" he asks her.
"Pretty sure they wanted my car," Shaylynn tells him backing up, "This type of Ferrari is only sold in Europe," she says looking over to see Deacon walk out with Zoë.
Shaylynn walks over to them with Luca following her, "Are you okay?" she asks Zoë.
"I'm fine," Zoë tells her.
"Why don't you go and get in Black Betty," Deacon tells his daughter.
"Dad, no! I want to go to Shaylynn's," Zoë tells him.
"Even after what happened?" Deacon asks.
Zoë shakes her head 'yes', "That wasn't her fault!" she tells her Father.
Deacon looks at Shaylynn, "I swear she'll be safe at my house! I have the state of the art everything!" she tells Deacon.
Deacon looks back at the room, "You protected her here, so okay," he says looking at Zoë.
"We'll follow you home," Luca tells Shaylynn as the rest of the team walks in.
"You two okay?" Hondo asks Shaylynn and Zoë.
They both nod at him, "Alright everyone let's load up!" Hondo tells them.
"Hondo, I told Shaylynn that we would follow her home," Luca tells him.
"You're the one driving," Hondo says smiling.
He starts to walk back to Black Betty with Luca and Deacon when Shaylynn touches his arm, "Can I talk to you real quick," she asks him.
Hondo looks at Luca then looks at Shaylynn, "Sure," Hondo says and walks away with her.
"Would you get me the Officer's name and information please," she asks him, Hondo looks at her confused, "He was here to help me! I'm sure he saw what type of guns they had but helped me anyway and it got him killed," she says. "I want to make sure everything is taken care of for him and his family!"
"Alright," Hondo says, "I'll get everything as soon as I get back," he tells her.
Shaylynn smiles, "Thank you Hondo!"
She walks over to her car, sees Zoë is already in it and gets in as Hondo walks back to Black Betty.
Shutting the door, Hondo sits down as Luca puts Black Betty into gear and follows Shaylynn out.

Driving along, it's been ten minutes and no one has said anything.
Chris looks over at Hondo and sees the expression on his face, "Everything alright?" Chris asks him.
"Yeah, Shaylynn wants me to get the fallen officers information for her," he tells her.
Street looks at him, "Why's that?" he asks.
"She wants to take care of things for him and his family," Hondo says catching everyone off guard.
Tan looks over at Luca, "Does Shaylynn have that much money?" he asks him, then Tan looks around to see where they're at, "Holy shit!" Tan says as he watches a gate open and Shaylynn drives in with them behind her.
Everyone from the back tries to get a good look through the front windshield to get a glance of Shaylynn's home.
"Being a bodyguard to the rich and famous sure does have its perks!" Tan says as Luca stops Black Betty.
Luca looks over at Tan before getting out.
Looking behind him, Luca sees Deacon has also gotten out and is walking up to him.
They both walk up to Shaylynn and Zoë who are up by the front door.
Shaylynn unlocks the door and the four of them walk inside.
Both Deacon and Zoë are taken back by the view they see out the french doors across the room.

"Remember I'll be picking you up after shift," Deacon reminds Zoë.
"I know," Zoë says rolling her eyes, Shaylynn tries not to laugh.
Deacon looks at Luca and smiles at him as he hits him on the arm as he walks back out to Black Betty.
"Zoë, make yourself at home. You're more than welcome to go and look around," Shaylynn tells her.
Zoë smiles and takes off to look around.
Shaylynn turns her attention to Luca, "Are you coming here after shift?" she asks as she smiles at him, running her hands up his arms.
Luca smiles back at her, "You know it!" he says as he bends and kisses her.
He backs up from her, "This shift better go quick!" she tells him.
Luca smiles and walks out the door.
Shaylynn looks outside and waves to everyone as Luca drives Black Betty down the driveway.
After closing the door, Shaylynn walks off looking for Zoë.

Two minutes later she finds her in the theater room asleep in one of the reclining chairs with the Greatest Showman playing.
Shaylynn walks out of the room, then walks back in a minute later carrying a blanket.
She covers Zoë up and turns the volume down some so she can get some sleep.

Back at Headquarters, Hondo's team and Rocker's team are waiting on Hicks for an announcement he has.
Finally, after five minutes, Hicks walks in, "What's this all about?" Hondo asks him.
"With Mumford retiring and Rocker taking his place that leaves an opening. Since the budget cuts the rookies for S.W.A.T. were sent back out on patrol not getting any sort of S.W.A.T. training. Until the first qualified candidate for S.W.A.T. gets in their qualified training, I have found someone to fill that spot for the time being," Hicks tells everyone with everyone looking at him surprised, especially Rocker and the rest of his team.
"Sir, with all due respect, we really don't want anyone who's green on our team," Rocker expresses.
Hicks looks at him, "You're not getting someone who's wet behind the ears! If anything, they're more experienced than what you are."
Everyone looks at each other, "Who are they getting?" Hondo asks Hicks.
"Shaylynn," Hicks tells them.
Luca gets a surprised look on his face then turns his head and looks at Hondo who also gets a surprised look on his face.
