Ares, the son of Zeus and Hera, was the God of War, Bloodshed and Violence. He represents the violence of War, whereas Athena represented the battle strategies and tactics. His sacred animals were Vultures, Venomous Snakes, Dogs and Boars.

Ares had a chariot drawn by four fire-breathing horses, and his sons Phobos and Deimos (Fear and Panic) were his usual charioteers.

Most Greeks felt the same about Zeus as they did about Ares. They didn't like them, but because they were Olympian Gods, they tolerated him. The exception being the Spartans, who adored Ares. Others who liked Ares were the Amazons, a group of all-female warrior, and they started off as only the demi-god daughters of Ares.
