a/n: okie doke change of plans, i said i wasn't going to update this week but i just finished this chapter and got excited to post it so here it is lol

I handed the driver Summer's bag as he stuffed it into the trunk of the car. Summer was already sitting in the backseat before I had even stepped out of the little house. I was too busy trying to stuff the rest of my belongings into her duffle bag and locking up the home to notice how behind I was with time.

We ended up staying two nights in Sonoma. It wasn't planned to stay another night, I definitey didn't plan to stay two nights out of New York. I didn't even plan to stay one night away. We spent the second day just exploring the little town and running around the hills. We were like a pair of kids just hanging out and being loud. It was all fun and games.

The second night was very uneventful. We did the same thing we had done on the first night, except we ordered pasta instead of pizza. The two of us really didn't do a whole lot else. We just hung out and enjoyed each other's company. I enjoyed the trip because it was just a nice little getaway from the fast paced city life. I wish I was able to do this more often.

Summer never talked about what exactly her parents did to upset her, and I didn't press for information. If she wanted to talk about it, then she would have. I had to admit that I was curious to know, but I don't think it's really my business.

"Ready?" Summer asked once I sat down in the car. Her eyes were glued onto her phone before she glanced up at me.

I nodded my head and buckled my seat belt, just as the driver pulled away from the house. The long ride back to the airport was boring, and Summer had fallen asleep in my lap right away. I didn't want to wake her up when we arrived at the plane because she just looked so serene.

We boarded the plane and sat down in the chairs at the table, waiting for takeoff. There was this flight attendant lady that had given the two of us coffees, and since I don't care for it, Summer took mine and drank it as well.

Summer was reading some kind of health magazine as I watched a movie on one of the televisions. It was rather quiet between us until she suddenly came over and sat next to me on the couch.

"Sorry for kind of making you come with me. I know it was a little out of the blue, and I didn't really give you a choice."

"It's fine," I laughed as I wrapped my arm around her shoulders. "It's not a big deal."

"Well if there's a next time, I'll be sure to let you know."

I nodded my head and gave her a slight smile, "You're all good now? Whatever made you upset before, it's fine now, right?"

She sighed, looking out the small window, "It will be, hopefully. We'll see soon enough."

I didn't push her any further than that, so the rest of the plane ride we just sat there on the couch and watched movies. This time I actually stayed awake for the whole flight, which gave me the opportunity to realize just how long the flight was.

When we finally arrived back in New York, it was late in the afternoon. The flight had left early enough so that we didn't come back at an ungodly hour, which was great because I still had to get up early to clean the kitchen the next morning. Niall was definitely unhappy about me having left him for two mornings alone without warning.

Summer and I got into another town car and were on our way back to her hotel. I figured we'd spend a little more time together before I headed back to my own apartment. I was sure Xander and Isabella had something to show me based on their previous text messages.

As we pulled up at the hotel, I immediately spotted a few of those guys with cameras. Paparazzi people. The sight of those guys always made my heart start racing because I know nothing good comes out of anything they are involved in. I began worrying about why they were there because they never stand outside Summer's building.
