"I found it! I found a page about the statue." Lena announces this to Kara so she can come over and look. "I can't read it here." Lena hands the old book to the native Kryptonese speaker.
"Yes that's exactly what it looks like, let's see..." Kara begins reading the text and translating it to english. "Older than Krypton itself. Do not touch for this sacred physical manifestation can only be held by the imperishable. All mortals who seek to use its raw power shall reach their demise instantly."
Lena looks over at the figurine on the other side of the room that's sealed in glass. "Okay well that sounds terrifying. What's its purpose then?"
"Well, large replicas of this were used for worship on Krypton. It was the original depiction of Rao. I guess it's some sort of powerful device or weapon." Kara is sort of stumped at the mysterious object. Lena is still interpreting the description from the text. "Why were you not killed by it Kara but still affected?"
"I suppose I'm not mortal but I'm faltering in between. It was calling to me... I could feel it. It was trying to give me something..." Lena listens as Kara tries to figure out the meaning behind the statue but Kara's thoughts stop.
Lena checks the time on her phone, it's time to go to the Pulitzer Prize ceremony. "Kara, we should probably head to the awards ceremony now." The reporter shakes her head. "Yeah, okay. This is enough for one day."
Kara is taking her sister as her plus one to be at the ceremony and Lena was invited because she is the chief executive of one of the largest media networks. Of course she was invited. It is a large television ceremony.
"I can't believe my sister has made it this far in such a short amount of time." Kara and Alex are walking into the seats of the large, lavish auditorium together. "Me neither. Oh look it's Lena!" Kara gets very excited even though she already had their seats reserved next to each other. "Weren't you with her like an hour ago?" Kara dismisses Alex's comment. "Yeah. Does my hair look okay?" Alex nods her head. "Yes, Kara. Now go talk to the woman of your dreams." Kara makes her way through the crowd and to her boss. Before she can even hug Lena she is taken away by her appearance.
