Currents Convulsive

I wake up in my brothers guest room. Hungover. Last night was amazing. I did end up doing a shot while jumping into the pool, so I can cross that off my bucket list I guess. At one point someone even got a funnel out and we chugged alcohol from that. There was harder stuff being passed around, but it wasn't really for me. I'm not into that, I stay with the lighter drugs.

Fuck. Like weed last night with Mike. What the hell was I thinking? I'm glad we stopped before anything could really happen, but man, that was such a mistake. We're both dumb for even going as far as we did. God I hope I don't have to see him again for awhile. I hope they go on tour before we can see each other, Mike finds other women to be with and forgets about it all. Actually, knowing Mike, he's probably forgot about it already.

I stretch and roll over to grab my phone and check my messages. There's one from Mike. I'm too scared to check it. Instead I get out of bed and go downstairs. It doesn't seem like anyones up yet, but to be fair its only 10am. I was asleep by 3, everyone else stayed up until at least 6.

I make myself a coffee with Jaime's fancy coffee maker. I would've gone out and got coffee for everyone, but by time they get up it'd be cold.

As I'm making my coffee I hear someone coming down the stairs. It's Vic looking about as tired as I do.

"Hey, good morning." I say. "Coffee?"

"Yeah that'd be great." he answers. "You have a good night?"

"Yeah! It was really fun, but I think maybe I drank a little too much."

"I feel that every time theres a party to be honest."

I laugh. "Yeah, I could never do what you guys do."

"Well we've been at it for years. We've kind of perfected it by now." he says and laughs.

I never even think of that. Jaime's been playing with them since I could remember. They've been touring for years at this point. They definitely have a set schedule in the way of partying by now.

"You should join us again on our next tour,it's coming up soon." Vic says.

I think of Mike. How awkward would that be?

"I don't think so." I reply. "I don't think its really for me."

"Maybe just for a week then."

I actually consider it. "Maybe."

"I know Jaime would love it." Vic says. "He's always talking about how he hates being so far away from you."

"Really?" I say. Vic nods. "I never knew that. Maybe I will come for a couple weeks then."

I'm sure my awkwardness with Mike will be forgotten by then anyways. Again, though, I'm pretty sure he doesn't even care. I'm not gonna say he gets around a lot, but he definitely does have an easy time getting with people. I'm sure hooking up with me wasn't anything for him. He probably hooked up with someone else by time I went to bed last night. It wouldn't surprise me.

"Good." Vic says. "Look, I gotta head out. Thanks for the coffee, and I know its over now, but happy birthday again. I'll see you later, alright?"

He comes over and hugs me goodbye, leaving his coffee cup in the sink on the way out. I watch him go, wondering where he's going to at 10am. He's a busy guy, though, I assume its something to do with the band. Maybe setting some things up for their next tour.

Sitting there alone I decide to check my message from Mike. I take a couple deep breaths before I do. I know I'm probably preparing myself for nothing, he probably just texted me 'happy birthday' or something, but still. I take one last deep breath and open it.
