Chapter 10: Friendship

I wake up in the nurse's office. I look around to find myself alone.

Y/n: "My head hurts" I say rubbing my head.

Akame: "That was reckless of you to do that you know?"

I turn towards the window to see Akame sitting down, cleaning her sword.

Y/n: "What? Fight my opponent"

Akame: "No, trying to use ultimate attacks like those when you have a class full of people that close, not something a captain of a team would do"

Y/n: "He started it, besides, where did you come out from?"

Akame: "You're my partner, I'll always be guarding you when you aren't capable of protecting yourself"

I turn away from her. I sigh as I turned back towards her.

Y/n: "Thanks"

Akame: "No problem, you are my partner for the next 4 years"

I lay back into the bed with my arms behind my head.

Y/n: "That's the first time I've heard that you know"

Akame: "What?"

Y/n: "That someone has my back"

She looked surprised for a second before going back to her usual cold expression. I turn towards her and smile

Y/n: "Thanks, really"

Akame: "You have others who care about you as well you know"

I sigh again and look at the ceiling.

Y/n: "I know, get along with them, I know I know"

Out of the corner of my eye I see it again.

Y/n: "... You should smile more"

Akame: "Huh?"

She blushed a little and covered her face.

Y/n: "Guess we both got something in common then?"

She looked up towards me.

Y/n: "You try not to show your emotions, I do the same, maybe we lack the same reasons why but"

I get up and extend my hand out to her.

Y/n: "Let's try doing this again, Hi I'm Y/n, nice to meet you partner, I hope we both get to work on our social skills and try our best to protect Vale"

She looked at my hand whilst still covering her face. She took a deep breath and extended her hand towards mine.

Akame: "Nice to meet you Y/n, I'm Akame, I hope we both work hard in accomplishing our goals and keeping Vale safe"

We shook hands and we both locked eyes. I signaled her to my right. I had a feeling we were being watched. We both turned to see a girl in a red hood peeking through the door.

Ruby: "Oh... Hi, I wanted to check up on you to see if you were okay"

Y/n: "I'm okay"

Akame patted my arm as she gave me look, as she walked over to the door.

Akame: "Well, I'll be taking my leave, I've got some homework to do"

Y/n: "Do mine while you're at it"

She waved me off as she left, closing the door to the room. I pat the side of my bed as I readjust my seating.

Ruby: "So... Do you like weapons?"

I laugh a little as I look back at her.

Y/n: "Yes, I do, I little too much I think"

Ruby: "What do you mean?"
