「daniel」

We all entered the house and Savannah motioned me to sit with her.

"I'll call mom" Samantha said, to which Sav and I nodded at.

She lets out a sigh.

"Hey, so, how's life there? How's Derek and the other guys?" Savannah asked.

It felt like a long time since Savannah and I talk.

Though we just met a week ago, we never asked how was each other's lives were. It was always flirting and teasing here and there.

"Derek, he quit. We all quit our jobs. He went in a different path now. Corbyn and the other guys are still at the station. We haven't thought about plans for ourselves but we're sure we'd figure it out." I explained.

She nodded.

"Samanatha told me a lot. He actually did those things? Like nobody can fucking hurt my sister" she chuckled.

So did I.

It feels good to be talking with her genuinely again.

"I know, I beat the hell out of him. But we're all good though, he left his job with a smile" I replied.
"I remember eight months ago, you told me to change my clothes 'cause Derek was asking you what I was wearing" she said.
"Oh yeah, that started everything" I chuckled.
"Also who's that Brooklyn girl?" she then asked.
"Oh, looong story Sav. But to sum it up it's just a girl that we basically hated because Derek found her in the street using drugs and thought it would be a good idea in joining her in our group" I replied.
"Weird. Derek can be so stupid sometimes" she said.
"He could" I nodded.
"So have you and Samantha had se—"

Savannah got cut off when Samantha walked to us with their mom.

She looked just like the twins.

"Hi, i'm sorry I took long I was calming myself" she chuckled.

The twins get panicked easily too.

"I'm Sophie, their mom. It's nice to meet you Daniel" she smiled, lending out a hand to shake.
"Daniel. Pleasure to meet you Sophie" I smiled and shook her hand.
"He basically, um, saved my and Samantha's life" Savannah said.

Sophie gasped.

"You're— you're that Daniel! Oh good Lord, i'm so thankful for you, you don't know how much I— Thank you so much." Sophie smiled.
"Oh no problem, I love your daughters so much. They mean so much to me" I said, looking at Samantha and she blushes.
"I'm happy you three are happy. Would you like something to drink?" she asked.
"No, actually i'm here just to drop Samantha off. I have a home. Thank you though" I politely declined.
"Oh well, Thank you again. Here's a box of donuts for you and your family" Sophie gave me a box of matcha donuts.

My heart melted.

"You're always welcome to visit my daughters. One of the reasons why is that I thank you so much and that you're Samantha's boyfriend" Sophie smirked.
"Mom" Sam said.

I laughed.

"Thank you. A pleasure to meet you again" I smiled.

Savannah opens her arms for a hug.

"Come tomorrow Daniel" she mumbled.
"Yeah I will" I replied.

She breaks away from the hug and Samantha comes in for a hug as well.

I hug her tighter, knowing i'd sleep for the first time in eight months without her.

"I'll miss you baby" I whispered.
"I'd miss you too Daniel" she frowns.
"Goodbye" Sophie waved.
"Bye Danieeel" Savannah waved.
"Bye baby, take care!" Samantha said.

I waved back at them before hopping in the car.

This was painful yet amazing to me.

Letting go of the one I love to make her happy.

It hurts, but she's happy, so I am happy too.

「the next day」

"Jack! Is there any left overs of the donuts? I'm starving" Corbyn yelled from the kitchen.
"No! Zach just ate the last one" Jack yelled back.

I finish putting on my shoes and fixed my hair a bit.

"Where are you going bro?" Jonah asked.
"Samantha's" I replied.
"Can I come?" Zach asked, running towards downstairs.
"Yeah" I nodded.

They cheered.

"Hop in the car!" Jack yelled.

"This is their house? Dang" Corbyn looked at their house.
"Act like adults" Jonah said.

We laughed.

"Yes dad" Jack playfully rolled his eyes.

Jonah laughed.

"Alright, let's come in" I said and we walked towards the door.

I knocked thrice on the door and stepped a bit backward.

"Probably— Daniel! Corbyn! Jack! Zach! Jonaaah! Hi guys!" Savannah greets us with a huge smile.
"Savannah!" Zach said.
"Come in, come in!" Savannah said.

She closed the door and we sat on the couch.

"Samantha's upstairs, probably picking out an outfit but whatever" she said, making us laugh.

Typical Savannah.

"Where's Sophie?" I asked.
"Oh mom went shopping. We thought you guys would arrive a little later so yeah" she chuckled.

I nodded.

"By the way Jack, your hair, i- it's amazing! I just miss your curls" she frowns.
"I just wanted a little change" Jack replied.
"Hold on you guys are getting bored, i'm gonna call Samantha— SAMANTHA WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?!" she yelled.

We laughed.

"I'm here, i'm here hold on!"

She playfully rolled her eyes.

"So slow" she mumbled.
"Too mean" Zach said.

Soon after talking, there was footsteps coming from the stairs.

"Oh there she is, finally" Savannah said.
"Hey guys, I didn't thought you'd all come earlier" Samantha chuckled.
"It's okay" I replied, not taking away my eyes off of her.

She sits beside me and Corbyn moves for space.

"This is like a family reunion, but like friends version" Corbyn said.
"Friends reunion!" Jonah said.
"And I love it" Sam said.
"Oh wait" Sav said, getting something from the fridge.
"We have matcha ice creams for everyone!" she announced, and we all cheered.

We all got ourselves one and continued to chat.

It felt perfect.

"Hey Daniel?" Samantha said as she ate her ice cream.
"Yes baby?" I asked, tucking pieces of hair behind her ear.
"I love you" she whispered.
"I love you too" I smiled and pecked her lips.
