I have never seen my father cry in my life

I have never seen my father cry in my life. Never. Draven and I have only seen the cold, hard-ass side of him and if I'm being completely honest, I didn't think he was capable of that emotion. But it was nice to see he was still human.

Telling the kids what was going on, was a situation I wanted to avoid. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out that way. At first I wasn't going to tell them, but I felt that they had a right to know. Just in case...something bad happens. It was hard to see them break down the way they did. Thank god, for my mom. She always knows what to do in these types of situations.

When it came time for dinner, no one was really interested in eating, but we did so anyway.

After dinner we walked the kids to their rooms and tucked them in. I know they won't get any sleep tonight, knowing that their mother is in danger and I don't blame them. There is a chance they might never see their mother again. I shake the haunting thought away. I can't imagine my life without, Wren.

When our father was finished with his phone call, he informed us that it was time to go and neither one of us asked questions as we followed him to the car. We both knew it had to do with Wren.

The car ride was eerily silent, making the trip to the warehouse feel a million miles away. Once we arrived though, we got all the information we needed from James, and wasted little time getting ready. It's been a long time since I've had to suit up. I guess desperate times calls for desperate measures.

"They're going to wish they never met me," Draven says in a threatening tone. The expression on his face is deadly. I haven't seen him like this in-, well I don't think I have ever seen him like this.

Yes, I've seen him mad, but nothing like this. His hands are trembling with anger as he straps the last buckle on his vest.

"They're going to wish they never met any of us," Tucker, says. "Wren has impacted all of us in the most positive way possible and we would give our lives for her."

Everyone mummers in agreement.

I glance around the room in astonishment. Every one of them has a look of determination plastered on their face. I knew that Wren had helped a lot of them through some terrible times in their life, but never knew the impact she actually made.

When I look over at Draven, his eyes are soft and warm and for a second, I thought I seen a hint of a smile.

I make a mental note to thank Tucker for that when this is all over.

"Alright," my father's voice booms through the room. "Most of us have families of our own, waiting for us to return. This is war. There might be a chance you won't come back after this and if you choose to leave, I will understand."
