Jack was getting thin and gaunt; his wrinkles had gotten deeper and had spread all over his body. His once jet black hair was slowly turning to grey. The complaints about the pain in his back and legs increased day by day.

Day in, day out, Jack came home from the fields looking very tired and worn. He was overworking himself and still, the money was not enough to support his family.

His children could no longer bear looking at him like that. Like a living corpse. There was no light in his face.
