She Knew

19 3 2

She knew she'd grow to love him
She didn't yet, but she could
And if she stayed around him
She knew that she would.

Like a bud about to blossom
Not ready, but quite soon
Like the sun unwilling to set
And lend the sky to the moon

Like a baby bird on a branch
Waiting for its chance
To spread its wings in the sky
And glide and soar and prance

Like a soon to be mother
Knowing what's to come
Awaiting the day she'll welcome
Her precious infant son

She knew she'd grow to love him
She knew it'd happen one day
She knew she'd end up falling,
So instead she pulled away.

The worst part is when you know you're going to fall for someone, but they're not the one you should be falling for.
