I wish that with a clean sweep of my palm
Her tears would go away
I wish that with a gentle caress
She'd have a brighter day
I wish that with a warm embrace
A smile would reappear
I wish that I could bottle her pain
And stow away her fears
I wish that I could share her grief
The way we share our daily news
I wish I could turn my sympathy to empathy
And step into her shoes
I wish that just by being there
I was doing more than enough
I wish that I didn't have to tell her
The extent of my love
I wish that with my hand in hers
She didn't feel alone
I wish it wasn't her in pain
I wish the tears were my own.~Via
