Author's Note:

Wow. That last chapter was all I could have hoped for, even though I wasn't too sure where the plot was going at times. And thus, my tenth book is completed.

It was very hard to finish this novel because my Uncle died in a freak work accident (a jack and two support stands gave way on a semi) while I was writing chapter 8 (which was where Alpha Nix died). Trying to write about Julie's grief while mine so fresh was one of the hardest things I have ever done.

This book almost got shoved into a folder with my other partially-started stories, although I'm glad I finished it. I hope it didn't cause anyone else too much pain.

I had expected this book to go on for another 20,000-40,000 words, but the plot seemed to have other plans and wrapped up surprisingly quickly at 68,000 words – making it the shortest actual story I have ever written. I literally sat there and stared at the screen for a good five minutes in disbelief, went for a walk, then came back and stared at it again.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped me catch errors and polish this story into something that flows better (and there were quite a few of you who helped as I posted the new chapters).

Please also give a round of applause to my main editors - @FireAlwaysReturns, @bellasweetie15, @0dragonlover0 - who spent quite a few hours of their time helping me with my persistent typos and questionable grammar while getting it ready for posting.

Some statistics on the story:

It took me 3 months to write, and a bit more to edit. (This was done before I started posting).
First chapter was posted on: December 1, 2019
Completed: February 21, 2020
~68,000 words (Roughly 114 pages in a word document – single spaced)

Fanfiction & Spinoffs:
I've had a few inquiries, and yes, people may write fanfictions and spinoffs as long as proper credit is given. Please list my story title and username in either your summary and/or Chapter one.
Example: My story was inspired by 'Redeeming the Lost', which was written by @CrystalScherer.

If you want, when you post it, let me know and I can add it to my reading list, which is dedicated to such spinoffs. Some people also add the tag 'CrystalScherer' to their spinoffs so they are easier to find.

Please note that I do not accept offers to translate my story as I may need those language rights if I ever publish it.
