*Outside the TARDIS*

The fight is on as I run, the Doctor no longer behind her. Madame Kovarian appears through a hatch behind Amy.

"Demons run when a good man goes to war. Night will fall and drown the sun when a good man goes to war. Friendship dies and true love lies, night will fall and the dark will rise when a good man goes to war."

"Amy!" I shout.

"Demons run but count the cost. The battle's won, but the child is lost."

"Amy!" I shout.

"Wakey, wakey" Kovarian says.

"Amy!" I shout, Melody suddenly goes splat in Amy's arms.

"Rory? Rory! Rory!" Amy shouts sobbing, I am behind a locked door.

"Amy, she's not real! Melody, she's a Flesh avatar. Amy!" I shout as I run in. Everything is quiet "Amy! Amy."

"Yeah, we know" Rory responds, the Monks are dead, and Strax is wounded.

"It's strange. I have often dreamed of dying in combat. I'm not enjoying it as much as I'd hoped" Strax replies.

"Come on, Strax. Don't give up" Rory says.

"It's all right. I've had a good life. I'm nearly twelve" I look at Rory and Strax, tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Listen to me. You'll be back on your feet in no time. You're a warrior" Rory says.

"Rory, I'm a nurse," Strax says, I go to where Jenny is comforting Amy. They both look up at me.

"So, they took her anyway. All this was for nothing" Amy says.

"I am so sorry" I mutter, Amy stands, I move towards her and Amy backs away.

"Amy, it's not her fault," Jenny says.

"I know. I know" Amy walks away sobbing, the Doctor finally runs in and looks around.

"Seer, Doctor, there's someone who wants to speak to you both. Her name is Lorna. She came to warn us" Vastra says, Lorna is also dying, we walk over to her and the Doctor scans her with his sonic screwdriver.

"Hey. Hello" I smile.

"Seer, Doctor."

"You helped our friends. Thank you" the Doctor says.

"I met you both once, in the Gamma Forests. You both don't remember me."

"Hey, of course, we remember" I say taking Lorna's face in my hands "we remember everyone. Hey" I wipe away the stray tear that was rolling down Lorna's cheek "we ran, you and us. Didn't we run, Lorna?" Lorna lets out a breath and dies.

"Who was she?" the Doctor asks.

"I don't know, but she was very brave," Vastra says.

"They're always brave. They're always brave" I mutter.

"So, what now? They'd almost certainly have taken her to Earth. Raise her in the correct environment."

"Yes, they did. And it's already too late" I say.

"You're giving up? You never do that."

"Yeah, and don't you sometimes wish I did?" there is a flash of lightning.

"Well then, soldier. How goes the day?" River asks, I turn to her.

"Where the hell have you been? Every time you've asked, I have been there. Where the hell were you today?" I ask stalking towards River.

"I couldn't have prevented this" River says.

"You could have tried!" I shout.

"And so, my love, could you. I know you're not all right. But hold tight, Amy, because you're going to be."

"You think I wanted this? I didn't do this. This, this wasn't me!" I shout.

"This was exactly you. All this. All of it. You make them so afraid. When you and the Doctor began, all those years ago, sailing off to see the universe, did you ever think you'd become this? The women who can turn an army around at the mention of her name. Seer. But if you carry on the way you are, what might that word come to mean? To the people of the Gamma Forests, the word Doctor means mighty warrior. How far you've come. And now they've taken a child, the child of your best friends, and they're going to turn her into a weapon just to bring you down. And all this, my love, in fear of you."

"Who are you?"

"Oh look, your cot. Haven't seen that in a very long while" River says.

"No, no, you tell me. Tell me who you are" I say, the Doctor stands a few feet away watching

"I am telling you. Can't you read?" River places her hand on mine, I read the Old High Gallifreyan on the cot, and my face softens as I look at River.

"Hello" I whisper.

"Hello" River replies, I let out a girly giggle, River smiles.

"But...but that means."

"I'm afraid it does" I look at the Doctor then back to River.

"Ooo. But you and I, we, we, we, er..." I make kissy noises.

"Yes" River replies, the Doctor smiles slightly as I am getting all excited with anticipation.

"How do I look?" I straighten my bow tie.

"Amazing."

"I'd better be."

"Yes, you'd better be" the Doctor walks over to River and I.

"Vastra and Jenny, till the next time. Rory and Amy, I know where to find your daughter, and on my life, she will be safe. River, get them all home. Doctor, you're coming with me!" I say, the Doctor smiles and gets rid of the force field around the TARDIS and he and I go inside, I stick my head out and point at River smiling before the Doctor pulls me back in.

"Alex! Doctor!" Rory shouts.

"No! Where are you going?" Amy asks
"no!" the TARDIS dematerialises "where are they going and what did you tell her?"

"Amy, you have to stay calm" River says, Amy picks up a gun.

"Tell me what you told Alex."

"Amy, no. Stop it!" Rory says.

"It's ok, Rory. She's fine. She's good. It's the TARDIS translation matrix. It takes a while to kick in with the written word. You have to concentrate" River says, Amy looks at the writing on the cot.

"I still can't read it."

"It's because it's Gallifreyan and doesn't translate. But this will" River hands over the prayer leaf "It's your daughter's name in the language of the Forest."

"I know my daughter's name."

"Except they don't have a word for Pond because the only water in the forest is the River. The Seer will find your daughter, and she will care for her whatever it takes. And I know that. It's me. I'm Melody. I'm your daughter.
