"so are you going to tell us the news yet or do we have to wait even longer," Katie says to me.
I look at my two best friends on the couch and realise I'm going to have to tell them some time or another.
"Right okay, so you guys know how Alex and I have been hanging out a lot recently right. Well she came to mine on Thursday and basically confessed her feelings and then I confessed mine and then we kissed. A lot" I say, saying it faster and faster as I tell them
"wait you guys kissed! Oh my god, that's great Toni" Cece says coming up to give me a hug.
"No freakin way did you guys kiss! Neil! You're all grown up!" My sister says joining in on the hug too.
"I'm so glad you guys are happy about it," I tell them honestly knowing that their opinion means a lot to me
"Of course we are, you haven't been in a relationship for such a long time, I honestly thought you'd become a crazy cat lady one day," Katie says making me smack her arm while Cece laughs with her
"So when do we finally get to meet her!" Cece asks me while Katie bounces up and down excitedly on the spot.
"Today actually" I say awkwardly rubbing the back of my neck
"what! when?" Katie asks shooting up from her seat.
"in like an hour," I say biting my tongue from trying not to laugh at the shock on both their faces.
"Jesus Neil, give a girl some warning!" Katie shouts as both her and Cece jump up and go to their suitcases
"Why are you the one's stressing, it should be her, she's meeting my best friends," I say making them look at me and then back at each other
"That's very true, we need to be intimidating so she knows that if you hurt Toni then she's got us to deal with," Cece says
"Good idea," Katie says nodding her head in agreement. I just look at the two of them in amusement, surprising myself again about why I still hang out with them.
After a lot of faffing around, I eventually get the two out the house and in my car so I can drive to where we're meeting Alex
"Right, I'm setting some ground rules with you guys," I say once the journeys started
"What! Come in we are not going to interrogate her that hard" Katie whines, I just turn and shoot her a look making her shit up pretty quickly
"Number 1, do not ask her 20 questions within the first 10 seconds of meeting her, I don't want her to feel overwhelmed," I say looking mostly at Katie for that one
"That's definitely aimed at you K," Cece says laughing
"Rule number 2, don't ask ridiculous questions that are difficult to answer," I say now looking at Cece
"Okay, fair enough" She replies putting her hands up in defence
"Number 3 is don't ask about her past relationship, it ended badly and I don't want her to have to bring it up again," I say having heard all about Servando already.
"anymore?" Katie asks
"Yes, the last one is. Just be nice please, show some respect she's another human being, after all, I know you guys want to protect me and I love you for it but please, for me, go easy on her" I say looking at them both pleadingly.
"For you, we'll do whatever you want," Cece says giving me a small smile
"oh and before I forget, Katie don't go all big sister on her, I haven't told her about, you know, my past yet," I say awkwardly
"That's fine Neil, no one's going to make you tell that part of your life until you're comfortable" Katie explains to me.
