alexmorgan13: Unfortunately I've come to that time in my life where it's time to hang up my boots. I've been playing soccer since I was 4 years old and now I'm 37 and have a wife and amazing daughter.
If you'd told little Alex that in around 30 years she would've won 3 world cups and have 4 Olympic gold medals, she would've laughed in your face. I've achieved so much in my career and met amazing people along the way who have grown to become my family.
This wasn't an easy decision for me but I know it's the right one to make, I want to spend time with my daughter while she's growing up and look after my wife as she continues to kick butt out on the field.
So from the bottom of my heart thank you to every single person who supported me to be better and become the best. Until we meet again, thank you soccer

"Are you sure you're ready to retire, Carli didn't go until she was 43, you could still play?" Toni asks and we cuddle in bed
"no I'm ready to quit, I want to spend time with our daughter and watch her grow up, it's not fair on her if both her parents are busy all the time," I say and bury my head further into her chest
"now I feel like I should retire too" Toni mumbles making me chuckle
"you started a lot later than me and you're only 31, plenty more years to go before it's your time," I tell my wife
"it will be nice to come home after a day of training and have my gorgeous wife already here waiting for me," She says lifting up my head so I can look at her in the eyes
"and I can't wait to greet you with plenty of hugs and kisses" I reply smiling back and kissing Toni on the lips.
