I never really was anything that special. I mean, people said I was smart, some said I was pretty, or kind. But, really I'm not like the rest.

Sure, I had my hobbies. I had my interests and traits. But I'm more of the nerdy kind. The outcast.

While everyone else gets involved, I sit on the side. Or leave. I'm not part of some big friend group. I don't hang out with any of the popular people. I'm not like the other girls, with gorgeous flowing long hair like in the advertisements. I don't have a perfect complexion which I then cover in masses of makeup.

No, I'm more of the girl who stays by herself and observes. I guess I get annoyed when nobody really notices me but at the same time, why should they get involved if I don't?
Well, MJ is like that too. We're both the ones who read and draw, stay clear of the crowd and any drama. We've never really spoken. We just understand each other as the only 2 girls in the grade who are like the outcasts. A simple "hi", smile or question about a book is all we need, acknowledging each other's existence and keeping a shred of hope in each other's eyes; a reminder that we're not alone.

And of course there was Peter Parker. He used to be my best friend. Since we were both about 7 years old, we've been inseparable. No matter what happened, I was there. When his Uncle Ben died. When he became Spider-Man. When he met Tony Stark and became his "intern". When he lost Tony and Nat.

We told each other everything. Except for one thing. How I really feel. Every time I see him I can't help but wonder why he's still my friend. I know I don't stand a chance with him. I mean, just look at him and talk to him for a single minute and you'll understand everything.

Peter Parker is the kindest human being on this earth. He is loving and selfless, to the point where he almost gets himself killed on a daily basis just to return someone's handbag from a thief. Honestly, it's not even a surprise that he's Spider-Man. Even outside his suit, Peter puts the needs of everyone else before his own. Whether it's helping someone with their books or not saying a single word back to Flash as he shoves him into a locker even though Peter could win any fight, he stays back and always chooses to do the right thing.
And amongst all of that, he's lighthearted and funny. He never takes anything seriously (unless it's actually serious, of course). He's not afraid to make fun of me on some of my stupid traits to the point where we're both crying of laughter. But he knows where too far is and he never hurts my feelings on purpose.
I wish I could say that was all. But, no. Amongst all of that, Peter Parker is annoying and unfairly attractive. Although he never thinks it and I can see him looking some of the popular boys with sadness in his eyes, he is cute as well as.. I don't even want to think it. But he's just perfect. I mean, his eyes. Chocolate brown. They're deep and welcoming. Just so warm and loving. His smile is so genuine and adorable. His dimples appearing and eyes shining as he smiles or laughs. It's just captivating and contagious. No matter how I'm feeling, it's all wiped away when I see those dimples and that wide, adorable display of happiness.

So when I saw him staring at Liz I couldn't even be surprised. Of course he likes the perfect girl. He is the perfect guy after all.

But now, when I hear him telling me he loves me I can't comprehend it.
"Y/n? Oh crap, I'm sorry; I knew you wouldn't feel the same way, I mean what was I thinking? You liking a guy like me? Sorry, just forget what I said, I'll-I'll go now. Sorry Y/n." Peter starts to walk out of the room.
"Peter, no, wait!! I shout running after him, almost falling over in the process. "Wait," I repeat, breathless. "I-I do like you. I just.. I thought you were joking or something."
"Joking? Why would I be joking?" Peter stares into my eyes and my heart stops.
