Chapter 5

Kaneki and I stood inside the Cochlea's elevator.

The two of us have our combat suits ready.

Kaneki looked at the suitcase that I held close.

"You didn't have to bring your Quinque, you know," he said.

I chuckled awkwardly.

"I know," I replied, "I just want to give this new baby a try."

Kaneki sighed.

"Don't forget the plan."

I nodded.

"Make sure everyone is freed," I said, "We don't want any inequality in this place."

"Got it."

The elevator door opened to the Cochlea's control room.

"Be careful," Kaneki said.

I smirked as the door closed.

The people looked at me in shock.

I walked over to the control systems and opened the roof to the building.

I then turned to the confused faces inside the room.

"Yo," I said, "I've been dying to try out this new quinque I got."

I activated my quinque.

A scythe made out of a rinkaku kagune appeared.

I swung it around a few times as they looked at me in fear.

I then winked and smiled.

"Well then, who's going first?"

I slashed them with my scythe.

A few of them tried to fight back, but I managed to defeat them before they could move further.

I swung my scythe again.

It's lighter than I expected.

There are still a few left, but I didn't realize it when I heard the alarm ringing.

"Prepare to fight," I heard, "This is an emergency. I repeat this is an emergency-"

I pressed a button of the scythe.

Suddenly, I was holding a MK16 SCAR.

I quickly shot the Q-bullets that were made out of ukaku shards towards the remaining survivors.

They fell back quicker than I expected once again.

Turns out, having a chimera quinque isn't that bad after all.

I deactivated my quinque.

I looked out towards the window to see Ayato's and Banjou's forces jumping down from the roof.

Looks like the battle just begun.

Still holding my suitcase, I backed away a few steps.

Then, I cracked my fingers before running towards the window and crashing through it.

I released my kagune and went hurling down towards the group of doves while protecting myself from the Q-bullets and shooting shards out of my ukaku.

I landed gracefully on the ground while deactivating my kagune.

A few meters away, I could see Banjou disarming one of the troop members of the CCG.

Banjou whacked his head with the dove's own quinque.
