Holding On To Yesterday

It was never meant to be this way,

I'm holding on to yesterday,

When you were alive,

and still around.

Able to hold on, to every sound.

And able to see all around.

And able to hold my hand,

When i feel down.

But here i am now,

Lost and empty

for nothing to hold on to,

except those last words you said.

And i look around, and you're not there,

to comfort me, when i am scared.

When i look around and you're not there

to hold my hand,

And to tell me it'll all be fine,

When you know it wasn't.

It was never meant to be this way,

I am holding on to yesterday,

When you were alive,

And still around.

You were meant to be there,

when i turned eighteen.

You were meant to be there,

for when i finally did you proud.

But here i am,

the family disappointment,

Like i always was.

So here i am,

Lost and empty,

with nothing but pain,

which lives within.
