"You mean you are a married woman?" Aleeyu asked wiping his face with a blue handkerchief and looked at Ruqayyah again.
She nodded her head and looked away letting out a sigh that has been choking her, she took a deep breath and faced Aleeyu whose attention was now on his steering wheel.
"Why didn't you tell me since?" He further asked.
"No more questions mister. I said just two questions once in a week." Ruqayyah laughed as she sipped a Coca-Cola quietly.
He quickly got out of the car, and walked to the passenger's door and opened it.
"Please, get down." He commanded.
Ruqayyah wasn't shocked of his sudden demeanor, she came down the car and watched as he closed the door and opened the backseat door and permitted her to enter.
He closed the door and walked back to the driver's door, entered and ignited the car.
Ruqayyah felt guilty for not telling him about her status right at the initial, she had begin to get use to his company as he often comes around; although at times she shuns him away.
He even offered to start picking her up from school and save her the stress of public transport but she declined, so he decided to apprise her his presence today, and went to the school to pick her up_ unknowingly.
"I'm sorry for crossing my limit, I never knew you were married. And also, for picking you up without your consent." He broke the silence.
"Its..."
"Hold it there, I'm not supposed to be even hearing your voice." He cut her.
"Please listen to me." She pleaded.
Aleeyu quickly turned on the radio as a music was booming from the speaker, he increased the volume so as to not hear what she's saying.
Ruqayyah tried to hide her anger upon the sudden change in demeanor of Aleeyu but all efforts were in vain as she's a short tempered person.
Without a second thought she quickly opened the car door as it drove on the street. Her action made Aleeyu quickly matched the brakes, all of these actions happened within a flash but Ruqayyah had already stepped her right feet outside and when he matched the brakes, her whole figure fell on the coarse road resulting to some few bruises on her cheek and ankle.Aleeyu quickly came down the car and rushed to her aid, it was a minor injury yet she was bleeding.
"What is wrong with you?!" He sparked.
She paid no attention to him, rather_ she made an attempt to stand up but failed.
The few people that were in their various working positions had gathered to witness the short scenario that happened."Leave me alone." Ruqayyah stopped him as he made an attempt to help her be on her feet to the car, so they could go to a chemist.
"We are going to a chemist. Let me help you." He offered.
"Leave. Me. Alone!" She retorted.
"Fine, get up and walk to the car, now!" He ordered.
Just like that, Ruqayyah stood up and leaped to the car. She couldn't talk back at him because of the aura of charisma that washed over him in her eyes.
"So authoritative." She scoffed and entered the car.
Aleeyu matched his brakes gently and the car halted, Ruqayyah opened the door and was about to step down when he stopped her.
"Your medications..." he handed her a small polythene which contained the medicines prescribed to her by the pharmacist.
"Thank you." She mumbled and left the car after collecting the bag.
Aleeyu drove away at a high speed filling the atmosphere with the dust that aroused as a result of his action.
She leaped to her compound and noticed a black Camry parked by the gate of the house. She then reduced her pace as it wasn't even a fast one, she scrutinized the car from afar and noticed that it doesn't look familiar to her at all.
"Maybe it belongs to one Yahya's uncles." She shrugged.
She was about to push the gate's door open when a figure came out of the car.
"'Yan mata." She heard the voice she had developed hatred for.
Her heart began to palpitate as she turned to face her sworn enemy, she felt his hatred growing in every muscle and joint of her body.
"You?" She pointed at him.
"Manners young lady." He beamed, exposing his white dentitions and and a silver tooth that covered one of his incisors in his upper jaw.
She hates the tooth!
"It will be better if we talk in the car." He said urging her to enter the car.
"You don't have all day, so say what you are here for or else take your leave." She spurred boldly at him.
"I'm still your husband, remember?" He raised a brow at her. "And who's the person I saw you with the other day? What's between you two?" He asked.
"That's none of your business, leave now or I will gather people for you." She said dismissively.
Her words didn't sound like a threat to him, rather, the encouraged him to execute his plans well.
"Get in the car, or say bye to your daughter without even seeing her for the second time after birth." He smirked.
Ruqayyah became very shocked hearing those words from him, if she could bear been tortured and battered by the person standing before her, her daughter shouldn't be a victim—she deserves love and happiness and a better person as her father.
"Don't you dare do any harm on her."
"Get into the car then! Or, just a phone call away, and your daughter will be no more."
Ruqayyah closed her eyes and bit her lower lip trying not to break down in his presence; she's a strong lady. But, the tears had forced themselves out of her eyelids making her let a whimper out.
"You're a wicked man! What wrong have I ever done you? Answer me!" She grabbed the collars of his long sleeve.
He quickly pushed her away from him and straightened his squeezed shirt. With an evil smile, he said
"It's time I pay tsoho a visit, and let him know that his so-called dead daughter is alive and is living in Kaduna right?"
