Edward's pov

I sat there on my stomach with my arm out as Winry fixed my automail. We were talking about Alphonse. Recently, he's been avoiding me or isolating himself.

"Al's...Been acting kind of strange lately." I mentioned to Winry as she sat next to me with a mini wrench. She looked to the side, "Strange?"

"Yeah, he doesn't talk much, it's like he's lost in his own thoughts." I sighed, becoming worried for him.

Denny gasped, "Maybe he's in shock from when I punched him!"

I rolled my eyes, "Puh-lease, as if he'd be in shock over such a little thing. He's not that wimpy." Although, he has been like this ever since we returned from the lab. Did something happen?

"I wonder what's bothering him.." Winry said to herself as she continued to work. "So you can't figure it out either, Winry?"

She shook her head as she straightened her blonde hair with her fingers, "You're always with him and you don't even know what's wrong. How would I know?"

Denny hummed, "You know what I think? He's lovesick!"

"Don't compare him with you, you love-obsessed freak." I immediately shot at him. He began to sulk on the ground, mumbling to himself.

Quickly, Winry finished her repairs, singing out a small 'done' as she watched me swing my arm around. I smiled, saying a quick 'thanks'.

"Now you have to let the rest of your body heal." She complained, knowing full-well that it wouldn't be long till I wrecked my arm again. My eyes rolled as I repeated what she said in a mocking tone.

The door slammed open, revealing a tall male with glasses. "Hey, Ed! Heard you snuck a girl into your room!" He called out. I chocked and tripped myself over off the bed.

"She's just my mechanic!!" I corrected him. He thought for a while, "So you hooked up with your mechanic, huh? Not too shabby."

I groaned, 'If I say one thing he says something else!'

"Heard you made friends with a cute boy, too. Didn't know you swing that way, you two-time now? Edward~" He teased. I shot daggers at him with my eyes.

"Winry," I slowly inhaled, "This guy is Lt. Colonel Hughes."

She shook hands with him, "Hi, I'm Winry Rockbell." He introduced himself again, "Maes Hughes, nice to meet you."

I sighed, "Isn't there some work you should be doing?"

Hughes grinned at me, "Heh, heh, heh. I have the whole afternoon off!"

"Oh really?" I questioned, "I thought you said you said that the investigations division has been so busy lately that you can't get time off?"

"Don't worry!" He reassured, "I made Sheska work over-time!"

"You're an evil, evil man."

Hughes chuckled then cleared his throat, "It's true that I wanted to see how you were doing on my time off, but there's another reason I stopped by." My ears perked up, "I just got news on the scar incident. Your bodyguards are going to be dismissed soon."
