Chapter 15
"I'm not your mother."

Edward's povWe took the train with Winry. M/R seemed to look out the window nervously, fidgeting with his hands and shirt. I sighed and placed a hand over his, "It'll be fine." I reassured.
Recalling what he told me earlier about his mother avoiding him, I wouldn't expect it to be that bad. Some people just need space, and from what M/R had told us, he'd been away from home for a week or so.
I don't think he expected to be going back so soon.
We reached the station where M/R's home resided and got off. I told Winry if she could wait at a nearby café for us, as M/R seemed extremely uncomfortable. Knowing the situation at hand, M/R's mother may bring up the past and transmutation. Only Al and I had that information.
Winry agreed, a bit saddened she couldn't come along but understood the seriousness of the situation. We waved 'bye' at her and followed M/R.
"Do you think your mum will let us in?" Alphonse asked the tense male, a tone of worry in his voice. I could understand why he was worried; before we went on this trip, we had explained to Al why M/R didn't want to see his mother.
M/R nodded, "Trust me. She may not like alchemy from what it had done, but she loves anyone that has fame to their name. Sorry, you two, but you'll have to use your titles." He frowned.
I shook my head, "No, it's fine, really. You don't have to apologise. We understand."
He smiled at me and put his hand in mine, squeezing it tightly. My face slightly flushed at the gesture, not expecting it. Alphonse chuckled at the sight and looked ahead.
"Oh, is that it?" My brother asked, pointing towards a block of joined buildings. M/R nodded and swallowed his fear. The grip he had on my hand tightened and his fingertips became cold.
I could tell he really didn't want to go in. Facing your past really can be scary, Al and I know that better than anyone. Alphonse and I glanced at each other and nodded. Quickly, I engulfed the taller (though I hate to admit it) male into a hug.
He tensed at the sudden action but melted into it, hugging me back whilst shivering. "It'll be okay, you'll be fine," I muttered into his ear as I stroked his hair.
We separated and M/R slowly made his way to the door, us following him, knocking on it twice. He stood there for a while, waiting for any response. Not long after, a tall woman with long, (Hair-colour) hair opened the door.
She narrowed her eyes down at the sight of M/R and my anger slowly bubbled up. "May I help you?" She sneered.
M/R gulped and nodded, "Um, hey mum." He smiled nervously.
Her glare darkened, "Mum? I'm sorry, I have no children."
M/R's head lowered and he nodded. "Sorry, mother, but I came back to retrieve some things. May I come in?"
The woman grunted and grabbed M/R by the collar, pulling him close to her face as she sneered. "Listen to me; I am not your mother, and you are not my son, understood?!"
She then threw him to the ground and began to close the door.
"Wait!" I called out, holding the door open whilst Alphonse checked on M/R and helped him up.
She looked towards me and her glare softened, "How may I help you, little boy?"
'Oh, this lady did NOT just call me little. Oh, wait till I get my hands on- No, Ed. Compose yourself. M/R is what's important right now, not your temper.'
