SABREEN
I woke up,eyelids heavy, my head hurting ,i looked around to find I'm on the bed.
"You are awake?? I hear someone say.
I look to see who it was and see Haifa.
"Yes;I reply not looking at her, what happened?I asked.
"You passed out, you should eat something she said.
"No!! I am not hungry I reply looking at the window.
"Will you please eat or... fine I will go call Yaya Amir for you maybe he will make you eat, she said leaving but I stop her.
"I will eat you don't have to call him,I said I don't want him to say he will do something I will regret hearing and I don't want to see him I cried In front of him. While Haifa smirked .
After am done eating, Haifa give me my meds.
"What is the time??I ask her.
"Ten in the morning.she said looking at her phone but looked at me when she heard me gasp .
"You mean it's morning again?I asked and she nodded.
"Thank god I am on a leave I would have had to pray the prayers I missed.
"Yaya Amir will be leaving today he was just waiting for you to wake up.i will go tell him you are up.she said but I stopped her.
"What bought him to kaduna?
"Mama sent him to bring the clothes we will be wearing on your wedding, she replied.
"Don't worry I will go myself I said.
But you just woke up.... She said.
I am fine, don't worry.
I took a bath and put on a simple peach gown ,I pick my nude big veil and put it around myself.i didn't put anything on my face and walk downstairs.
"Sabreen how are you feeling? aunty asked immediately she saw me.
"Am fine aunty and am sorry about yesterday;I said playing with the tip of my veil.
"Haba it's okay,it's good you cried you will feel better now, and stop holding in things to yourself, the doctor said it's not good for your health; she said and I nodded.
"Amir ya fita wage( he is outside) she said and I walked out.
He was talking to some guy around his age when he sees me coming.
"Hey!! How are you? He asked.
Fine; I whisper looking at the guy Amir was talking to before.
Um.. sabreen this is my cousin Farhan and Farhan this is... Your soon to be wifey. Amir was saying but Farhan cut him off making amir slap his head.
"Owwwwww!!!!!! easy lover boy I didn't say my soon to be wifey I said your, your soon to be wifey, Farhan says making amir slap him again and that made me giggle.
Amir turned to me and smile making me bite my lower lip.
"Ehemmm!! Earth to lovers I am here don't eat yourselves, Farhan said gaining a glare from amir,and I laughed, Farhan is very funny,I thought.
"Okay amarya(bride) I will be taking your ango(groom) now,we are getting late.farhan said and Amir looked at him while I just stood there blushing.
What?? I called her amarya not soon to be my wifey, Farhan said.
"Did I say anything?; Amir said raising one eyebrow.
"Toh ai ban san wahala ne,Naga kana kallo na(I see you are looking at me,I don't want any problem) Farhan says.
"Ya amir you will get late if wait for Ya Farhan; Haifa said joining us.
"Mey ruwan ki(what is your business) Farhan said looking at Haifa.
"Ai ban Yi magana da Kai ba, ko sunan ka ya amir( I didn't talk to you or is your name ya Amir) Haifa replied back.
"Wallahi ko mistake akayi aka muku aure (if by mistake they get you two married) you will both end up killing each other, Amir said to Haifa and Farhan.
"Allah ya kiyaye(god forbid) they both say at the same time and I burst into laughter.
When my laughter died down I see all of them looking at me and smiling.
"Yay!! "The old sabreen is back, Haifa said jumping up and down.
"Such a child; Ina ta je dah toh(where did she go before) Farhan said rolling his eyes and Haifa glared at him.
"Okay bye; take care of yourself for me, see you in my house by next week,Amir whispered to me and I know I have turned red due to blushing.
After Amir left Aunty called us and was telling us how my wedding will be, she asked me to try the dress mama had sent for me and it fits perfectly not to mention how I look like a doll in it,then she told us we will be going to salon on Wednesday and then the henna designer will come on Thursday, and my nikkah will done after jumuat prayer on Friday and then I will be taken to Abuja to my house.
Me and Haifa were busy chatting in aunty's room not even realizing it was almost time for Isha.
Aunty is with her husband.
I was about to sleep when my phone starts ringing,I checked to see it was a number, who would be calling at this time?, nobody has my number besides Amir and rabi, then could it be?.
I recite Bismillah and pick up.
"Hello, the person says , the voice sounds familiar.
"Hello I reply back.
"Sabreen it's me mama , she said.
"Ohh!!"mama Yi hakuri ban san ke bace(sorry I didn't know you was the one.)
"Ba komai(it's nothing)I collected your number from Amir, and Laila (aunty, Imran mum) have told me everything that happened yesterday, please don't worry we are all here for you and you have a new mother she said.
"Toh mama;I reply
"Okay,did you see the clothes I sent for you?Did you like it?If you don't like them tell me and I will Change them.
"No no I love it mama and it fits perfectly,I said.
"Okay am glad you love it I will be waiting for my daughter then.good night She said and ended the call.
After ending the call I was thinking whether I should call Amir or not.
After deciding I dailed his number but was about to end when he picked.
Hello sabreen; he said through the line.
"Yes, how was your trip? I asked.
"It's fine, just tired but I will be fine if I get some sleep.
"Okay then I just called to check if you arrive safely good night; I said and ended the call.
Haifa you know am starting to get jealous, your boyfriend is always taking you away from me every night,I said pouting.
Don't worry by next week you won't need me by your side anymore, my brother will be with you she winked and I glare at her.
Someone is blushing, she teased.
Making me put the duvet around me and I drift to sleep.
