After Surgery~~
Mateos POV~~
I'm in recovery at the moment. The kidney they took was my left one. It was the healthiest one. I had a phase where alcohol was my bestfriend.
I am most likely the dumbest person in the world at the moment. Instead of keeping my thoughts to myself I poured them all out. And out of all the people I could have poured them out to it was Rue. The one person who doesn't really even want me in her life. The person who is only dealing with me because I am her fathers kid. She wouldn't even deal with me then if Luca wasn't being nosy the day I showed up.
The door opens and Doctor Philis walks in.
"Rue is out of Surgery." He tells me as he checks my vitals. "Is the pain starting to decrease?" He asks me as he has be sit up.
"Yeah, when can I go see Rue?" I ask him as he checks my stitches.
"Anytime. Just tell the nurse and she will help you into a wheelchair then you can decide if you rather wheel yourself to her room or have the nurse take you to her room. Just push the red button by your bed and it call your nurse." He explains to me as he helps me lay back down. "Also Luca is in there with I think her name is Ava." He finishes as he grabs his clipboard.
"Okay. Thank you." I tell him as he leaves the room.
Immediately after the door closes I push the button. I sit up and throw my legs off the bed. I wait a few more seconds and the nurse comes in.
"Are you okay Mr. Antinori?" She asks me as comes into the room.
"I want to go to Rues room." I tell her as I point to the wheelchair.
She nods and walks over to the wheelchair and rolls it over to me. She helps me sit down, very carefully, into the wheelchair. She helps me get comfortable then she wheels me towards Rues room. We get to her room and I thank the nurse. She gives me a smile then walks away. I wheel up closer to her door and reach for the door handle. I twist the handle and push the door open and start to wheel myself in.
Luca looks up from his phone and smiles, "Daddy!" He exclaims and runs towards me. I reach out to him and pick him up. "Mark, this is my daddy." Luca turns away from me and towards a man by Rues bed. Rue is looking at me, but I can't tell what her emotion is. She is confusing me. I smile towards her. The man by her bed looks between us and speaks,
"I'm Mark." He says subtle as he stands up and walks over to me.
I examine him closely and I realize I have seen him before.
When I first found Rue. He was the man she was on a date with.
