Lucian pov

I let her cry. I don't know what the situation was but I need to know what's happening.

"Why doesn't my dad love me?!" Melody cried

My heart truly went out to her. I just held her close as if she's my child.

"I wish you were my dad. Compassionate, caring, understanding, loving, and kind," Melody said her hair was curling up from the humidity.

"I think your father has a troubled mind. I don't know what happened but I think he's lost," I tried to explain

"So, is there anything specific. I saw chains on you. What happened?" Melody asked

"Centuries ago. Lycans were slaves. Me, Marius many us were used to defensed the vampires during the day. Times changed now," Lucian said

"Hmm. I can help. Make him realize that things are different and he can have a good life," Melody said moving away determined

"He was probably angry and said those things but I think if I can show him the good path he wouldn't be so angry," Melody vented

"What happens if he doesn't?" I asked

"Then at least I got to know what it was like to have a dad and pretend that he didn't say those things. I don't know about Ella, how she can handle any of this. We walked back and this time she radiated confidence and defiance. Eve cleaned her face a bit and the party went on.

I went to where Selene and Michael stood.

"I wonder how Kraven got her necklace," Michael said

"You think he did something to it?" Selene asked

"Very much so. I noticed him staring at her the whole time," Michael said

"Obsessed look and I don't like it," I said

"Hm, we need do more digging and check out her necklace," Michael said

"Exactly," I said

Kraven stopped Melody and grabbed her hand. She turned around and glared a bit off guard.

"I'm sorry about what happened," Kraven said handing her a drink

"Um, thanks," Melody sipping it

The people began to clutter closer blocking the view of Melody and Kraven.

"May I have a picture with the birthday girl?" Kraven said

"Sure," Melody said he quickly napped two photos. One with a smile and the other a silly face. Then they moved apart when music went slow and she felt someone grab her by the arm and she lost sight of Kraven before he could reach out.

"Dance with me," David said

"Of course," Melody said and he held her close and he held a sense of jealousy towards Kraven. He needs to keep an eye on him. He getting close to Melody. His Melody.

Right now he just wants to keep her in his arms safe. She stared up and her eyes somehow were a bright brown. He never stood her moods but her eyes. There he was staring back smiling and suddenly he stopped, almost as if he was in a trance.

"David are you ok?" Melody asked concerned  he didn't move a muscle almost as if he's day dreaming.

"Everything ok Mel?" Vlad asked

"I don't know, did I accidentally freeze him or something?" Melody asked worried and then Paula came up next to her.

"We are putting everything away. Go back and change. I'll make sure he is fine," Paula said
