Liliana

"You're gonna have to check the results, sooner or later." Sam says, parting my back.

I stare at the sink where my pregnancy test was currently resting on for the last half an hour as I try to build up the guts to see it.

"Look on the bright side, at least if you are pregnant, there's a possibility you and Ryder—yeah, not helping. Got it." Sam says when I give her a look.

"I'll wait outside." She says, leaving the bathroom.

I took in a deep breath and exhaled.

I stood up and slowly walked to the sink.

I took a deep breath and took the pregnancy test in my hand before turning it around.

Negative.

I sighed in relief and let a tear fall before wiping it away.

"Thank God." I whisper.

I threw the pregnancy test in the garbage can and left the bathroom.

"I'm clean." I smile at Sam.

She sighs in relief and gives me a hug.

"But how can you explain the symptoms?" She asks.

"Maybe my period is coming." I shrug.

She nods.

"You should really take something for your bad stomach and get some sleep." Sam says. "Those eye bags could stretch out to Narnia. Also, eat something. You look so pale."

I scoff. "Excuse me, these bags are designer."

She rolls her eyes as we walk to the front door.

"Thank you, Sammy." I say, hugging her. "You're the best."

"You wish you were at my level of kindness." She says smugly and I roll my eyes.

"See you." I say and she waves goodbye before leaving.

"Oh, hi Ryder." Sam says when she sees Ryder.

"Hey." He gives a small smile and walks past her.

Sam freezes with a shocked look on her face.

Did he just—I must be seeing things.

Sam shakes her head as if snapping back to reality and shrugs before walking away.

"Hi. I got pizza." Ryder says, showing the box of pizza in his hand.

I smile.

I was craving pizza.

"Is it pepperoni?" I ask and he nods. I smile, letting him in.

"Have you eaten anything?" He asks and I shook my head.

"I have been living off coffee just to finish my assignments." I say, sitting on the couch as Ryder puts the pizza box on the coffee table.
