Write something funny they said,

Leave your normal dark content behind they said.

Well guess what?

I failed.

We've got "dark" content.

Not dark but... not exactly happy stuff.

"Sora! I thought you were gone!" I was handed to Reagan who squeezed the life out of me.

"I'll always come back my nerd."

He buried his face in my fur and slowly smiled.

"I was visited by an angel last night Sora... she said she would protect me." He whispered.

I nodded my kitty head.

"Hmm,"

Roman crossed his arms.

"Stupid cat."

Reagan turned on his brother.

"Maybe if you weren't so mean she would have stayed!"

Roman said nothing, fearing he would upset his fragile brother.

Reagan turned on Rowan.

"And if you hadn't brought that dog maybe Sora wouldn't be so scared."

Rowan gave him a weak smile and scrubbed the back of his neck.

"Yeah, sorry."

I rubbed my face into Reagan's neck and purred softly.

"Reagan could I have a word with Sora? Make it up with her?"

He slowly nodded and handed me to Roman who walked to his room quickly.

"Now listen here cat, if you ever-"

I flicked my tail in his face.

"What now Roman?"

"As I was saying, don't you ever run off like that again! Do you know how emotionally attached Reagan is to you?"

I jumped off the bed and nipped at his leg making him jump back.

"I'm not in a good mood buddy, save it for later."

I walked out swaying my hips.

So close! I had been so close!

I watched Reagan play his game as Roman and Rowan got ready to leave.

Rowan to the vet, and Roman to an interview.

"Maybe you should come with one of us," Roman started.

Reagan shook his head not looking away from the tv.

"I want to stay at home."

Rowan shrugged pulling Roman away from Reagan.

"Cool, see you later little bro."

Reagan turned to me eyes narrowed.

"You can't fool me Sora, I know your hiding something. If you have a kitty boyfriend I'll find out."

I let out a sharp meow and hissed.

"Do not speak lies Reagan."

He nodded and sent me a sideways grin that made my heart pound.

"Let's binge-watch 'Sword Art Online'."

"Sora... It's been a long time... they were supposed to be back hours ago."

I looked at him feeling the same fear.

Where were they?

"They'll be back soon."

He breathed in and out sharply.

"It's nine, they were said they'd be back at four at the latest."

I crawled into his lap and purred soothingly.

"It'll be fine little nerd."

He sighed and pulled out his controller running his thumbs over the buttons biting his lip.

Half an hour of Reagan playing a game later the door opened.

"Ray-Ray?"

Reagan looked up sharply.

"You're back." An accusation filled his tone and he looked back at his screen.

Roman looked sharply at Rowan, who nodded.

He sat beside Reagan and placed an arm around his shoulders.

Reagan shoved Rowan off sharply and kept playing.

"Reagan... there something we need to tell you, about why we were so late," Roman told him.

Reagan nodded.

"Alright."

Roman closed his eyes and sighed.

"Could you- could you put your game away now?"

Reagan turned and shot him a glare.

"N-no."

Rowan gave him a helpless look.

"Reagan... we were called and had to go to the station."

Reagan rolled his eyes, annoyed and on edge by the unpredicted delay of there arrival.

"Ray-Ray, please put your controller down before you break it-"

"Don't call me that and j-just tell me!"

Roman heaved in a sharp breath.

"Warren was set free a couple of days ago."

His controller fell to the floor with a loud clang.

"Ray-Ray?" Roman asked as Rowan wrapped his arms his shaking brother.

"No, please no-" Reagan choked out.

My eyes widened.

No way-

"Relax, he's not allowed to even look at you." Roman soothed.

Reagan shook his head.

"He'll- he'll c-come to find m-me, I know i-it. He said he w-w-would."

Reagan gasped for breath.

"S-said he'd p-punish me for r-running away."

Roman ran his fingers through his terrified brother's hair.

"Shh, it'll be okay."

Reagan slowly looked up at his brother.

"H-he's going to k-kill me."
