Our story begins in a small village called Pinesgrove. It is a village located rather nicely south of the Blue Mountains and a good bit west of the Addersling Mountains. Not many travel here unless they wish to fish in the neighboring Mailka and Pin Lakes, but all things considered, Pinesgrove is a lovely little village open to new faces and new experiences. It is governed by a gnome mayor by the name of Frederick Pine—his family has been governing the small village for many generations. Mayor Pine himself is a hearty gnome with a styled brown beard, witty words, and a booming laugh. His adopted human daughter, Mara Pine, runs the village's small yet dutiful militia. The Pines are well-loved by their village and their love for their people in return is evident and warm.
But Pinesgrove has been dealing with somewhat of a despicable situation. Sightings of a great Beast haunt villagers day and night. Friends and family begin to disappear without a trace, all while distant howling taunts the people of Pinesgrove. Many men and women alike have set out to take down this illusive creature, but none have returned successful. Thus, the small village turns to the safety of their numbers and militia to protect them as autumn falls over the land.
As the fields yield their harvest, Pinesgrove holds its annual Harvest Festival—a festival of family, joy, new friends, strong spices, and even stronger ale. But with the arrival of a new ragtag group of travelers hellbent on locating this Beast, something stirs within the strings of destiny.
