Alastor was good on his word. On a rainy Saturday afternoon, he called me to tell me he had something to show me at his house. When I arrived, I found him waiting with none other than a hardback copy of my book, Black Wings Gold Crown scrawled in gold lettering across the dark cover.

Sucking in a breath, I took it from him like he had offered me the holy grail. This was my life's work between these pages. I felt tears prick at my eyes and I wiped them hastily away. I had no words for how happy I felt at this moment.

I looked from my book to Alastor, trying to find something to say, "How...how...did you?"

"My professional experience might be in the radio business," He said with a grin, "But I do have considerable pull in the publishing industry."

Without knowing what else to do, I kissed him.

It only lasted a moment, but it surprised both of us. As soon as I realized what I was doing, I pulled back. We stared at each other for a long moment, neither one of us sure what exactly to do next.

Slowly, Alastor lowered his head kissed me again, softer this time. The tension left me as I closed my eyes and allowed myself to sink into the kiss. I let him pull me against his chest as his lips moved against mine, sending sparks throughout my entire body.

When we finally came up for air, my (E/C) eyes found his. There was something in those eyes I could not place.

"I think we have a reason to celebrate," Alastor said softly, "How does sushi sound tonight?"
