Karina

I dragged my heavy suitcase behind me. I looked around at the 6 suitcases and 2 storage bins before collapsing on my new bed.

I groaned as my phone began ringing.

I answered, already knowing who it was.

"Hi, mom."
"Rina!", I heard my baby sister scream into the phone.

I chuckled.

"Hey, Aria. You miss me already?"
"Uh-huh. Mommy show me how to call you."
"Good job, Aria!", I heard Mom cheer her on.

"Very good job, Aria. I miss you already."
"When come home?", She spoke softly.
"Baby, I just left you this morning. It'll be a while."
"Okay..", she said sadly.
"Let me talk to Karina, baby."
"Okay, Mommy. Bye, Rina!", Aria said sweetly.
"Bye, Ari."
"Did you make it to your apartment okay?"

This year, I get to live in the campus apartments, instead of those dreadful dorms.

"Yeah, the drive was fine, Mom.", I lied to calm her nerves.

The drive was terrible or maybe I'm just a terrible driver. I accidentally ran two red lights and almost got hit by a pickup truck because I forgot to put on my turn signal.

"I'm going to let you get settled in. Make sure you call tonight, alright?"
"Okay, Mom."

She hung up as I got a knock on the door.

I opened it and smiled as I saw who it was.

"He-."

I was interrupted by a pair of lips. I was pushed backward into the apartment. We walked backward until we reached my room. He kissed me deeply as we fell on the bed behind me.

Moans escaped my lips as I pulled away.

"Someone missed me."

I stared into those blue eyes I'd craved all summer.

"Do you know how hard the last two months have been without you?", Griffin said.

Griffin lived across the hall from me last year and we quickly grew close. We started dating right before spring break freshman year.

I haven't told my family about Griffin yet. Not because I'm ashamed of our relationship, but because I hate how nosy they can get sometimes. Also because my dad is very protective.

Griffin kissed my forehead before sliding off of me.

"No, come back and love me.", I pouted.

He grinned and rolled back on top of me.

"How long do you think we have until Lux shows up?"
"Not long.", I heard a very familiar voice say.

I hurriedly slid from under Griffin and ran into the arms of my best friend.

"Lux!", I said as I squeezed her tightly.

Lux Mathers was my best friend in the whole world. We met on move-in day freshman year and instantly clicked. Lux was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed goddess. She was the kindest person I ever met and I couldn't ask for a better best friend.

"Karina, I missed you.", she said as we pulled away.
"I'm so glad you decided to come back this year."
"I couldn't leave my bestie."

I grinned at her. Griffin walked behind me and wrapped his arms behind me.

"I'll let you two get caught up. I'll see you later, love."

I pecked his lips before he left.

"I have not missed that.", Lux said.
