"Colby the baby is crying." I mumbled sleepily as we laid in bed. "Colby?" I said and looked around. He was suddenly nowhere to be seen. I got up and went to the crib, our baby was crying loudly, "it's okay, shhhh. I've got you little one." I said and bounced her up and down. "Colby I'm serious I need your help..." I mumbled looking around for him. The crying stopped and my arms were now empty. I couldn't help the tears that were now falling from my cheeks. I made my way downstairs, trying to see if anyone was in the house with me. "H-hello?" I called looking around. It was really dark in the house so I could barely see. I walked around for what felt like forever until I felt a seering pain in my head, causing me to scream and fall to the floor.   "Colby!!" I yelled in pain as I gripped my head.

The pain went away as fast as it came, but in front of me was a bright light. It was a calming light, one that made me involuntarily walk towards it. As I walked through the light my body irrupted in pain, causing me to whimper. "I think she's waking up." I heard in the distance. "Give her some space." "Cora? Can you hear me?" I heard from a familiar voice that I couldn't pin. I kept walking until my ears filled with a bunch of sounds, there were multiple beeping noises, and the sound of the tv playing, two people were talking, but I couldn't figure out what they were saying.

When I opened my eyes the seering pain of the white lights above me caused me to groan, "Cora?" The voice from earlier said. My eyes followed where the voice came from, only to see Colby sitting at the edge of his seat, holding my hand in his. "Hey baby girl." He said and smiled, "Colby..." I whispered causing him to bring my hand to his lips, "it's me. I'm here." He said and brought my arm back down, "w-what happened?" I said not understanding why I was even at the hospital. "You were in an accident. You and Kat got hit by a drunk driver and it turned into a pileup. Are you feeling okay?" I looked down, examining my body, then gasped loudly, "the baby!! Oh my god Colby the baby!" I sobbed out causing him to stand up and pull me into him, "the baby is okay, Cora. She's okay." He said and just held me to his chest. "W-what??" I sobbed out as he pulled away, bringing his hand up to my cheek. "She's fine. They said you took your seatbelt off or something and the baby wasn't hurt. She went into distress when you were in surgery but you both pulled through." He spoke calmly

I took a deep breath, but then my attention shifted again, "Kat!! Is Kat okay?! Oh god Colby please tell me she's okay." I sobbed out as he pulled me to him again, placing a kiss on my head, "she's okay, she's got some internal bleeding and will be sore for a while, but she got out of the hospital a couple days ago." He said and caressed my face with his thumb, "w-what?? How long was I asleep? W-where is everyone?" I said as the beeping in the room intensified, "hey, shhhh. easy baby, I'll answer all the questions you need, just relax, you're okay." He said and kissed my head, "you've been asleep for five days, everyone is back at the house, your dad is grabbing us some food." My face scrunched up, "m-my dad is here?" I pouted as he held me against him, "yes, he came as soon as I told him about your accident." I shook my head, "how did you even know about any of this? Y-you were out of town." I wimpered, now suddenly feeling every ounce of pain in my body.

"We came back early to surprise you guys, but we passed the accident on the way home. We followed the ambulance here, your dad and I have been here since. Everyone is worried about you, but they don't allow anyone that isn't family to be back here." I nodded but scrunched my eyebrows "but you're not technically-" I started but he held his left hand up, showing his ring that was now on his ring finger. "O-oh." I whispered and reached for the hand he was holding up, I could barely grasp it from how much pain I was in. "Hey, it's okay." He whispered and cupped my face, wiping away the tears which I didn't know were falling. "It hurts so bad." I whispered, squeezing my eyes shut. "Do you want me to get a nurse for you? I'll push the call button." He said gently caressing my face with his thumb. I just nodded and leaned into his touch as he reached over to click the button.

"Hey, look who's awake!" The chipper blonde nurse said as she entered the room, I just smiled, not really knowing what to say. "What's going on love?" She said and checked my vitals. "Pain. Lots of pain." I mumbled not being able to make a full sentence. "I know sweetheart, unfortunately there's not too much I can do for that since we want to keep that baby safe and healthy, what's hurting though? Everything? Or just your head?" She said and I shook my head, "everything hurts." I felt Colby stiffen up next to me, clearly not liking the idea that I was in pain. "The best I can do is a low dosage of Tylenol." She said and looked at my chart, "please, anything." I choked out, closing my eyes at the pain the lights were giving me.

"Do you want me to turn the lights off?" Colby said and brushed the hair from my sticky forehead as the nurse sifted through the medicine drawer. I just nodded as the nurse filled a cup with water.

Colby went and turned the lights off giving me a little sense of relief. The nurse popped the pills in my mouth and brought the cup to my lips. "Alright, try to get some rest, your body is going through a lot." She said then left the room again.

I put my free hand on my belly, rubbing little circles on it with my thumb, "squirt? Are you awake?" Dad said as he walked in. He was holding a couple bags of food and a shit ton of gifts and flowers. "Y-yeah. I'm awake." I said quietly as Colby helped grab some of the stuff in his hands, "I'm so glad you're okay." He said and hugged me gently, "I'm sorry for scaring you. Both of you." I whispered. "Don't be sorry, it's not your fault, I'm just glad you're okay. Both of you." Dad said and gestured to my belly.

I nodded, "me too."
