Colby's POV

I froze as she slowly tightened her grip on my leg.

I had to stop her without causing a scene. This was bad. So fucking bad.

"Flattering. But not interested." I said quietly and grabbed her hand, ripping it off of my leg. She just smiled and turned back to her mom and Cora's dad, not saying another word.

My heart was racing at the thought of having to tell Cora about this. Maybe I didn't have to. Nothing happened and I stopped her, telling her I wasn't interested. I just couldn't be alone with her, and it would be fine.

"Babe.." Cora's voice rang through as she put her hand on my arm, "what's up?" I asked and looked up to see her concerned face, "you just..you look like you saw a ghost or something are you okay?" She asked quietly and sat next to me. "Yeah..I'm fine." I said as Stephanie nudged me with her leg.

I had to talk to Sam, he would tell me what to do and it would be fine. I just couldn't ruin this for her dad, it would devastate Cora. "Okay...if you say so." She said and frowned slightly as I reached under the table and took her hand. She shook her head and started talking to her dad as she got ready to feed Mia.

The rest of the lunch went without a problem, which I was glad about. I REALLY needed to talk to Sam.

Cora kept looking at me cautiously as we left the restaurant and walked to the car. I could tell she knew something was up. I knew I shouldn't have been lying to her but did she really need to know? Nothing happened. Me telling her would just make things worse. I had it under control.

"Colby what is going on?" Cora breathed out with a little frustration in her voice. I shook my head, "don't worry about it baby girl. I just have to talk to Sam about something." I said as we drove home. Cora's dad, Michelle, and Stephanie followed us in an uber since they wouldn't all fit in my corolla. "Please don't lie to me, Cole." She said and I shook my head, "I'm not lying. I just have to talk to Sam about something." I said which technically was the truth, I did have to talk to Sam. "Okay." She said and looked forward again as I pulled into the driveway.

When I got out of the car she went immediately into the house leaving me to grab Mia. I sighed and opened the door to see Mia smiling at me, "hey little one, what do you think? Is mommy mad at me?" I asked as I pulled her out of the car. She just stared at me blankly as I breathed out a sigh.

I couldn't wrap my mind around what was happening. This girl could singlehandidly ruin everything Cora and I had worked so hard to build.

When I walked into the house Cora was showing Stephanie and Michelle around, Sam and Cora's dad were catching up. Sam looked up at me and I mouthed 'I need to talk to you.' to him causing him to nod. I nodded also as I watched Stephanie hug Cora.

I sucked in a breath as she winked at me, maybe she didn't get the hint. Fuck, this was going to get messy and fast.

I looked down at Mia who was sleeping in my arms as I turned to make my way upstairs. I went straight to the nursery to put Mia to bed then turned to see Sam, "what's going on man?" He asked as I walked out of the room and to the bedroom.

"Dude. I need your help." I said and closed the door to the bedroom once we were both inside. "Stephanie came onto me. Cora went to go change Mia and she put her hand on my leg and told me she thought I was hot.." I said and brought my hands to my head, pacing nervously. "Did you tell Cora?" He asked and I shook my head, "that's what I need your help with. I didn't tell her. I handled the situation, and nothing really happened." I said and he shook his head, "no brother. You have to tell her." He said and I sighed, "I can't tell her tonight. It will ruin everything." I groaned out and flopped onto the bed.
