Chasing Happiness (Criminal Minds: Spencer Reid Fanfic)

Part 3

I leave the classroom and walk down the corridors towards the reception where I see six people, luckily for me, I know a few of them, which is just what I need right now. First I spot Hotch, he's tall with smoothed back, black hair; does that man own any clothes that aren't suits? I've known him for a few years, since I was 15 and my Aunt and Uncle were killed. Next to him is an older man, a bit smaller and slightly darker skin tone with a few white hairs. He's in a suit as well. I recognise him from one of his book signings, its David Rossi, I've also attended a few of his Criminal Justice lectures. It feels unprofessional, but I'm so excited to meet him. Behind him I recognise Morgan, my hand to hand co-ordinator while I was in training. He's a tall man with big muscles, he has a dark skin tone and is in jeans and a T-shirt, talking on the phone to someone he calls baby girl. The other three members I don't know. There's a thin, average height, blond haired woman, wearing a dark green jumper and black trousers. Talking to her is a smaller woman with short, brown hair wearing a navy blue jumper and black trousers. Then there's the last member of the team, he's the one that catches my eye, he's s tall, skinny, geeky looking guy. His hair is kind of long and raggedy looking, but he makes it work. He's wearing a shirt and tie with trousers and a waist coat but it's not quite as fancy as Hotch or Rossi's suits. I don't know what it is but there's something different about him like a spark, or a charm that I can't quite put my finger on. He's kind of cute, shame I'm in a relationship. "Hotch!" I call out, as all of the people turn to look towards me,

"Alannah, how are you?" Hotch asks I reach him and give him a friendly hug.

"Getting by, wish I was meeting you under better conditions though." I say sounding disappointed yet still happy to see him after all this time while I release him from the hug.

"I know, it's still nice to see you again, you've done well for yourself since I last saw you." Hotch says with a smile. It's true, I have come a long way since he saw me, but I won't dwell on that right now. "Well, this is my team." Hotch gestures to the people around him and I look around at the people standing around me.

"Yes I know Morgan." I smile as I remember the fun I had with him training me "You still getting your arse kicked by the trainees in the hand to hand training?" I joke,

"Hahaha, I let you win that one?" Morgan laughs,

"Really? What about the other three times?" I say giving him a punch on the arm jokingly, making the rest of the team laugh.

"Alright that's enough." Morgan laughs.

"Okay, I'll let you off easy this time." I laugh and look towards David Rossi, "It's an honour to meet you sir, Alannah McKay, I'm a huge fan of your books and I love your lectures about the job" I say, trying not to sound like a crazy fangirl as I shake his hand.

"Thanks, it's a pleasure" Rossi smiles,

"Please, the pleasure is all mine" I smile back before turning to the rest of the team. "I'm sorry I don't know you three" I admit.

"I'm Jennifer Jareau but everyone calls me JJ," JJ says as she holds out her hand and I shake it "this is Kate," JJ says as she points to the shorter, brown haired woman, Kate holds out her hand and gives me a friendly smile as I shake her hand "and this is Dr. Spencer Reid." JJ finishes pointing at Spencer who gives me a little shy wave with a cute little smile, seriously can he stop being so adorable? I don't even know him, he hasn't spoken a word to me, yet I feel like I have to protect him at all costs.

"Hi." I say as I wave back, hoping that I don't give the emotions I'm feeling away to the team. I have to remind myself that I'm in a committed relationship! "Well it's great to meet you all I hope you don't mind but the head of the university has put me in charge of making sure you are all looked after. As you can imagine she's been getting a lot of calls from families and the press." I explain.
