wooyoung woke up in his hospital bed, completely different from where he remembered falling asleep.

all he knew was that he and san had played those board games until late, and most likely wooyoung fell asleep. if he fell asleep at the table, did san carry him? or the doctors?

he opened his eyes to the sun shining through his window, and squinted at the sight. it hurt his eyes, but once they adjusted he sat himself up and looked around, eyes widening at a familiar sight.

san was sitting in a chair that he had pulled close to wooyoung's bed, and had fallen asleep there. it made wooyoung frown, because it looked so uncomfortable. his neck barely holding up, so he thought he should wake the boy.

but before he did, he couldn't help but stare.

when wooyoung first met san, he hadn't smiled at all. he had only seen him give the doctors here dirty looks, before returning coldly to his room. something about that look, made wooyoung want to understand him. understand what made him become so cold to others.

but the look that san would give him now, was different. san had actually smiled towards him once, and at that moment wooyoung didn't know if it was real or not. san had smiled, and wooyoung had no other choice than to believe it was because of him.

"do you stare at my son while he's sleeping often?"

wooyoung almost fell out of bed hearing the sudden voice, it scared him. he hadn't expected a lady to be stopping by who hadn't looked like a doctor..

thats when he realized, that indeed it was, sans mother. it had woken san up too, especially since she had a loud voice.

"sannie, did you finally make a friend?" his mother's voice got louder as she took more steps into wooyoung's room, and got closer to her son.

"last time i was here, you told me every single human being alive were pure evil, including yourself?" wooyoung's gaze shifted from san's mother, to san.

he could tell how nervous san had gotten around her, and as he swallowed nervously, san couldn't even look at her.

"and you, wooyoung is it?" wooyoung's eyes widen at his name, did the doctors tell her..

"hm?" wooyoung responded, noticing the women's fierce gaze set on him.

"you're even crazier than him, aren't you? i've heard you've been here over two years. i suggest you stay away from my son, your a bad-"

"mom." san interrupted, causing his mother to stop rambling. who knows what other things she could have said to wooyoung, if san didn't speak up.

"you dont know me, and i have nothing to do with you." he said out of anger, finally having the guts to face his mother.

"and i know, that wooyoung has a much kinder heart than you do."

his mother scoffed, as wooyoung lowered his head in embarrassment. he was scared of getting yelled at by mrs. choi. but what came next, he didn't expect.

"okay, lets say you have a crush on wooyoung, hm?"

"i knew.. you were gay all along, which is another reason why i sent you here."

san shook his head, rolling his eyes at his mom. he didn't even want to call her that anymore.

"if your going to cause a scene, leave. my love interest, has nothing to do with you anymore. stop visiting."

it wasn't much time, before mrs. choi had gotten the courage to hit san. leaving a mark on his face, and getting her escorted out by the nurses nearby.

all san could hear were the faint yells that his mom sent him when she left. he hadn't even realized that wooyoung was gently examining the side of his face.

"san.." he frowned, tears almost falling from his eyes but stopped when san's hand met his.

"im okay, its not the first time." he reassures, now holding wooyoung's hand before looking at him. devastated to see some tears had already fallen.

"why did you cry?"

the boy sniffled, about to wipe the tears with his sleeves but san stopped him. he brought himself to gently wipe the tears away from wooyoung's eyes, because deep down it hurt him too much.

"..you know if you cry, you would be considered a cry baby." he joked, only making wooyoung pout as he threw a punch to san's shoulder; immediately regretting it.

"san i'm so sorry! are you okay?" a soft giggle came out of san after wooyoung had tried to check his arm, and it surprised wooyoung.

"what about this is funny you idiot? your mom hit you, and treated you so harshly. you deserve better." he protested, trying to put on a serious face even if it didn't convince the other.

"and you." san started, poking wooyoung's chest. "will give it to me better than she did."

wooyoung nearly blushed at the statement, and couldn't help but crack a small smile.

"your right.. i'll give you the universe san, just wait."

"nerd.." san whispered, causing wooyoung to punch him again. "okay okay! ill be nice now."

"you better, or else i'm kicking you out of my room." wooyoung threatened, but it didn't seem to scare san. he wasn't hoping to.

"your cute when your mad," he smiled, " but your probably hungry, right?" wooyoung nodded, giving in. "lets eat breakfast."

wooyoung agreed, following san shortly after he left for the cafeteria.

they ate breakfast together like usually, but this time was different. wooyoung could tell that since the first day they had met a week ago, san was becoming happier. seeing that only made him happy too, in fact, he had actually forgot about the incident for a moment.

if wooyoung wasn't already shoving his mouth with food like the man across from him, he would thank him. for making his days in the hospital, brighter.
