drawing hair is my favorite thing on a person

its just so fun and free and loose and yes

I don't think you noticed that I like drawing hair.

I love drawing hair.

Okay, I think you noticed by now, but some people can't learn.

But that's okay. Those people can live in ignorance.

I love drawing hair.

Okay, tutorial time. So first, I grab my beloved smudge tool on 100% opacity on the hairbrush and I give the hair a little life (unlike myself).

Time to set in some values. Start off grabbing the darkest color you swatched. Set your brush to felt tip pen soft (or something similar) and the opacity somewhere between 50-70%. Make the brush huge. Start laying down the foundational shadows. This will help develop the structure of the hair and how it will flow (and you will see how in a minute [actually you won't, but seriously just trust me]).

And then smear it out. I wish I had the photo, but I don't. I guess I just didn't take it ☹️. But hopefully you all see how this helps with structure.
