(Ava's P.O.V.)
"Hurry mummy! We're going to be late for the picnic!" Amara's little hand tugged at my finger as we ran up a grassy hill.
"Alright, alright sweety!" I laughed at her enthusiasm. I was carrying a woven basket filled with finger sandwiches and a bottle of sparkling cider. Today was Khalid's first birthday so we decided to do a picnic with just our family. As we got closer to the park bench a tall figure holding a smaller one came towards us. It was Zayn and Khalid.
"Is that my darling little Amara?" Zayn asked as Amara giggled and ran to her daddy.
"Daddy!" She couldn't help but yell. Amara was such a bright and charismatic little girl. Zayn gave me Khalid as he returned Amara's hug.
"Hey babe, I just finished cooking so we can eat in a bit." Zayn gave me a peck on the cheek as he spoke. Khalid looked at me and smiled. Khalid was probably going to be the more quiet one but with a little hidden charm. I couldn't help but awe at the fact that he looked so much like his father.

"I'm going to get you!!!" Zayn said as he ran after the two little munchkins. I never imagined Zayn to be such a great father. I sat on the grass and watched them play together.
"But daddy! We haven't caught Khalid yet!" Amara was fairly disappointed.
"Just a minute sweetheart! The monster is going to take a break before he comes to capture Khalid!" Zayn walked towards me and unexpectedly wrapped me in his embrace.
"Zayn, can you please warn me before you come and smother me in your arms?" He chuckled at my remark.
"You always know what to say to me don't you hun'?" He kissed me on the head as he continued to hold me. We sat there in silence for a while as we watched the children play.
"Ava..." The wind rustled my hair as I intertwined my fingers with Zayn's.
"Hmm?"
"What if I was to never stop you from the plans you would have made? Would you have still noticed me then? Even if things never changed, would you still find your way back to me even if I chose to never come back?" His question was very odd to hear after all these years. His question didn't place me in deep thought though, the question was easy. The answer was simple. I sat on his lap and gazed into his honey-colored eyes just so he would remember what I had to say.
"Zayn, when we were young, you were my best friend. We did everything together. From the moment I met you, you stole my heart and I didn't even know it yet. You helped me realize that my knight in shining armor was protecting me all along. It's you Zayn. Even if you stopped me or not, I was going to find you again." I softly kissed his warm, comforting lips as I caressed his face.
"We've been together for so long Zayn, and you still make my heart race. From now on, I'll be your savior."
Zayn smiled as he embraced me tighter.
"That's fine by me..."
