𝗕𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗦 ✷ chris evans

A/N: The events of the next few chapters are in no way real. They are completely made up by me for the purpose of the story. I don't mean to offend anyone in any way.

"Cut the check!" Mackie yelled, creating an eruption of cheers and applause throughout the cast and crew. They had just filmed the last scene they needed to film of 'Avengers: Infinity War' and it went perfectly. The Russo's knew it would be the last day of filming so they had invited everyone back on set.

The cast and crew began to hug and congratulate each other as Emily made her way over to Chris. He was sat on the floor in full costume after delivering his last line of: "Oh god"

She grinned at her boyfriend and held her hands down to help him up, but he just sat on his knees and pulled her down, capturing her lips into a kiss. The cheers grew louder and Emily's cheeks flushed bright red when they broke apart.

Tom swiftly pulled Emily into a hug and kissed her cheek before fist bumping Chris.

But the happiness of the Hemsworth's short lived as Chris got a call from his brother back in Australia. His face drained of colour as Luke explained what was going on.

"You okay, C?" Emily asked as she wrapped an arm around him. He furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head

"No... it's... it's mum..."

"It's not possible." Emily said emotionlessly as she rubbed the bridge of her nose with her thumb and index finger. Chris had his hand on the back of her neck and gently squeezed, comfortingly.

"Well, apparently it is." C sighed and ran his hands through his hair.

"We have to go back, right?" Liam asked, looking around the room.

"If you guys go, I'm going with you." Shawnee stated, shaking her head. "She's like a second mum to me"

That call from Luke hit the Hemsworth's plus Shawnee like a ton of bricks. Leonie Hemsworth - Emily, Chris, Luke and Liam's mother - had been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.

"Filming just ended." Emily said with the same emotionless expression on her face. "We can fly back next week. I- I'll book the flights..."

"Em, I can handle this." C frowned, placing his hand on his little sister's shoulder. She closed her eyes and breathed in.

"No, it's- it's okay." She shrugged him off before sighing and reaching up to wipe a stray tear from her older brothers cheek. "I got it, Chris." He buried his hand deep into his pocket and nodded.

She saw him bite the inside of his mouth and furrow his eyebrows, his lips parting slightly. A watery glaze washed over his eyes as he wrapped one arm around her shoulders, pulling her into his chest. She wrapped her arms around his waist and he let out a low sob before pulling the hand out of his pocket and holding it against the back of her head. After around two seconds, Liam joined the hug, followed by Chris and Shawnee.

"Are you sure you're okay staying with Lia?" Emily asked, holding Shawnee's hand in hers

"Definitely." She smiled with a nod. "I understand that you need time to process this and I also understand that Liam doesn't want to be alone right now." She pulled her best friend into a hug and kissed her cheek before pulling away. "Ring me tomorrow, babe."

Emily nodded and smiled "I will."

Shawnee smiled and walked out of the Hotel room. "See you later, Em" Liam half smiled and ruffled her hair.

After everyone had left, Emily shut the door and rested her back on it. She ran her fingers through her hair and sighed. Why does she feel numb? "What's on your mind?" Her boyfriend asked, sliding his hand to the back of her neck. She grabbed his wrist gently and tilted her head.

"Why me?" She asked, making Chris raise his eyebrow "why do bad things keep happening to me? Did I do something wrong? Is it karma?"

"No- I'm so sorry." He frowned. She walked forward and slipped her arms around his waist and rested her head on his chest.

"I love you so much." She whispered, a single tear falling from her eye and staining Chris's shirt.

"I love you too." His heart was breaking for her. She had been through so much and all he wanted to do was take away all of her pain. He knew just as much as she did, that that wouldn't happen.
